Geographers ask the questions of Where, Why, and How. We find patterns and connections that help answer these questions. Geographers use tools (like maps, radar, satellites) and techniques (like GIS) that help explain the complex relationship between people and the environment.

Physical geographers study the natural world, focusing on issues like extreme weather, wildfires, and floods.

Human geographers study people, focusing on issues like resources, urban systems, and sustainability.

Career Opportunities

People who major in geography are often driven to try to make a difference in the world. By studying geography, you will better understand the Earth and the diverse people who live in it. You’ll also build strong research and analytical skills. With a major in geography you can build a career in myriad areas, from environmental science to landscape architecture to cartography.

Course Sequence by Term

  • Initial course placement is determined by current district placement measures and completion of 100-200 course and/or program requirements.
