Scholarships Within MCC

While there are no scholarships intended for international students specifically, the following is a list of scholarships that are offered to Mesa Community College students at a glance. Please visit each scholarship's website for detailed information.

Honors Achievement Award Scholarship

This academic scholarship is offered by the Honors Department. Students can apply at the beginning of each semester.

For a student to be able to apply for this scholarship, they will need to be part of the Honors Program and have a 3.25 GPA. They must also have completed 12 credits. Additionally, they have to enroll in Honors classes and complete extra curricula activity.

Follet Bookstore Scholarship

The Follet Bookstore offers a scholarship to aid students with their course supplies and school books. Students can apply at the beginning of each semester.

Students interested in this scholarship must be enrolled at Mesa Community College and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. They must have completed 50% of their classes and 2/3 of all attempted course work. They also need a written recommendation from an MCC Faculty or board approved employee.

John Ohl Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is one of two offered by the Social Sciences Department. Every year the deadline for applications is October.

In order to be eligible for this scholarship, students must be enrolled in at least 6 credits in Fall and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students must also need to have completed at least one History class at MCC and they must also be pursuing a degree at MCC.

Social Sciences Department Scholarship

This scholarship is also offered by the Social Sciences Department. As with the John Ohl Scholarship, the deadline for applications is in October.

Requirements for students interested in this scholarships are that the students are enrolled in at least 6 credits in fall and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. They need to have completed at least 12 credits. One key difference between this and the John Ohl Scholarship is that students must also need to have taken at least one Economics, History or Political Science course at MCC.

Business and Information Systems Scholarship

The Business and Information Systems Department also offers a Scholarship to those students that are majoring in one of their programs.

Other requirements for this scholarship include having completed 12 credit hours at MCC with a 3.0 GPA or better. They must also be planning to enroll at MCC during the summer and/or fall semester(s).

A New Leaf Individual Development Accounts

The A New Leaf IDA program facilitated by MesaCAN, allows students to save up to $500 and get an 8:1 match on their savings.

For eligibility, students must have verifiable earned income (with pay stubs) from a U.S. employer with a net worth of less than $10,000. Students must agree to save a minimum of $25 a month for a period of 6 months before receiving a match of funds. To receive matched funds, students must be enrolled at MCC and complete a financial wellness course. Deadline is October 31, 2021.

Maricopa Foundation Scholarships

The Maricopa Foundation offers scholarships that are privately funded but are open to all students. These scholarships vary regarding requirements and in what they offer. We suggest that the students visit Financial Aid's Scholarship website for more information.
