Grants

Grants are need-based aid, awarded to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor's degree and who demonstrate exceptional financial need. Grants do not have to be repaid, except under certain circumstances.

Federal Pell Grant

Pell grant eligibility is based on your Expected Family Contribution (EFC). Your EFC is determined by your FAFSA results and the verification process if you were selected. The Pell Grant does not have a minimum enrollment status; however, the amount of Pell grant you receive will differ based your enrollment status. Why you may have to repay a pell grant.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

Unlike Pell grant funds, MCC receives a limited amount of Federal SEOG funds. This means that we run out of Federal SEOG funds once the full amount of our yearly FSEOG funds have been awarded to students. Students who are offered FSEOG must meet the same criteria as Pell grant recipients, plus the following:

  • Have an enrollment status of half-time, or more
  • Availability of FSEOG funds

Arizona Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership Grant (LEAP Grant)

MCC receives a limited amount of LEAP Grant funds. Once the full amount of our LEAP Grant funds has been awarded to students, no more LEAP Grant awards can be made for the year. Students who are offered an AZ LEAP Grant must meet the same criteria as Pell grant recipients, plus the following:

  • Be an Arizona resident
  • Have an enrollment status of half-time, or more
  • Availability of AZ LEAP Grant funds
