Eligibility Requirements for Summer Aid

All federal and financial aid programs have specific eligibility requirements for summer and may differ between programs.

Late-starting courses - Classes that do not start on 5/26/2026 or 6/29/2026 (for the 2nd 5-week session) are considered late-start classes. Funds for late-start classes will be disbursed 3 days after the start of your earliest class.

NOTE: If you do not maintain your original level of enrollment or you drop a course or do not attend your class(es) or a class you're enrolled in gets canceled, your aid will be adjusted accordingly and you may incur a debt.

Levels of enrollment: full-time)12+ credits), 3/4 time (9-11 credits), half-time (6-8 credits).

Financial aid refunds will only be sent if you've been awarded. If you've signed up for direct deposit please allow 2-7 business days after the dates listed for financial aid disbursements. If you did not sign up for direct deposit you will receive a paper check which may take 7-14 business days after the dates listed for financial aid disbursements.

Summer Financial Aid Steps: 

1. Register for Summer classes. Note: you must be registered for summer classes to be considered for aid 

2. Make payment arrangements for tuition. (See Tuition Payment Options below) 

3. Complete the 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). 

4. Make sure you check your status at least weekly online at www.maricopa.edu: 

▪Check your Task List and Maricopa student email to find out what documents are required 

▪ Allow 1-2 weeks for processing once all documents have been submitted. 

▪ Review award by clicking on “ Financial Aid” to accept or decline any loans if applicable.(Note: Grants are automatically accepted) 

Refund: To set up direct deposit for a refund (if eligible), log in to your student center and click on Financial Account tile then Manage Refunds on the left hand side. 

● Refunds by check can take 7-10 business days for processing 

● Refunds by direct deposit can take 3-5 business days for processing 

● Any inquiries on your refund, please contact District Student Financials at 480-731-8800.

TUITION PAYMENT OPTIONS: 

If you are not awarded summer financial aid by your tuition due date, it is highly recommended that you make payment arrangements  to ensure that you are not dropped from your classes for non-payment. Any tuition not paid by financial aid is your responsibility. Please  plan accordingly to avoid losing your spot in class! 

Pay your tuition in full: 

▪ In person in Enrollment Services located at Southern and Dobson Campus or Red Mountain Campus 

▪ By phone with a representative (480) 461-7000, prompt #2 

▪ Online through student center under Financial Account Tile 

Pay your tuition with a monthly payment plan: 

▪ Register for the payment plan in the student center, under the Financial Account Tile.

CRITERIA FOR SUMMER AID: 

All federal & financial aid programs have specific eligibility requirements for summer, and may differ between programs.  Please note the specific requirements below for each program: 

All Federal aid: 

▪ You must be seeking an eligible degree at MCC to be eligible for aid.  

▪ Financial aid for summer is limited so students should register for summer classes as soon as possible and ensure they have completed the 2025-2026 FAFSA. 

▪ Students must be enrolled in courses required for their degree program. 

▪ Students must be meeting the Standards for Satisfactory Academic Progress 

Federal Pell: 

▪ Pell eligibility is year-round and it is based on any unused Pell grant funds from Fall 2025 and/or Spring 2026 unused funds are determined by your SAI and your level of enrollment intensity %  for fall, spring, and summer. You will be awarded accordingly based on your eligibility. 

NOTE: For students who received 100% in pell from Fall/Spring, may still have eligibility for additional pell if registered in at least 1 eligible course for summer. 

Direct loans/Private Loans: 

▪ You must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours of eligible courses during summer. 

▪ Direct Loans are not available if you have reached maximum loan eligibility during 2025-2026 (unless change in grade level), and/or you have reached or exceeded your aggregate loan limit. 

Federal work study: 

▪ Federal Work Study (limited funds) is available during summer as a student or a non-student; conditions apply: 

Student 

▪ You must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours during summer. If you are enrolled after July 1, 

2026, MCC must have your completed 2026-2027 FAFSA information. 

Non-Student 

▪ Must be enrolled at MCC for Fall 2026

▪ Must have a 2025-2026 and 26-27 FAFSA on file at MCC 

▪ Student must have unmet need for 2026-2027 

▪ Earnings will be counted as a resource for 2026-2027 

▪ If interested in participating in the FWS program, complete the 2025-2026 FWS Student Interest Form.

For Maricopa Grant (Funding is limited)

▪ Maricopa Grant is only available for the first five-week summer session 

▪ Must be enrolled in a minimum of 3 credit hours for summer session
