Provides the opportunity for individuals seeking careers in the fire service to acquire standard firefighting skills and prepare for state and/or national certifications, including the Firefighter I and II Certification.

  • AAS- Fire Service Management

The program provides courses for experienced professional firefighters who desire to learn advanced fire ground tactics and strategy, building construction, practical incident command, supervisory training of personnel, public administration, basic finance, and human resource management. Students can select from a variety of fire science electives to meet their professional goals.

Certificates of Completion Offered

Credit by Evaluation, Course Substitutions, Credit by Examination

If you are a professional firefighter and wish to have professional training evaluated for college credit, you must provide copies of official training documentation or official training transcript outlining contact hours and course content. You can request credit by evaluation/examination or course substitute by contacting the Fire Science/EMT/PME department at firefighter-education@mesacc.edu.

If you are a transfer student and wish to have other college Fire Science or EMT courses substituted, you must provide a copy of the unofficial transcript, as well as copies of the course curriculum and objectives.

To initiate a credit by evaluation, course substitution, or credit by examination, contact firefighter-education@mesacc.edu. Forms and documentation will be evaluated by the Department Chair.
