What days and/or times are the gyms the busiest?

Our busiest times are usually in the mid afternoon, but rarely will you have to wait to use equipment in our facility.

Are there showers located in the locker rooms?

Showers are located in the Heap gym at the Southern and Dobson location, and in the fitness center locker rooms at the Red Mountain campus.

What kind of lockers do the fitness centers have?

The Southern and Dobson fitness center provides digital lockers, while the Red Mountain center has metal lockers that require a padlock (locks are not provided).  All lockers on both campuses are day-use only.

What are the costs and benefits of working with a personal trainer?

There is no extra cost for personal training with a paid credit or non-credit membership. The benefits of working with a trainer can be helpful if you're new to exercising, working towards health and performance goals, or designing/improving your physical activity. Learn proper exercise techniques with exercise programs that are tailored to your individual needs.

Do you have an open gym (basketball court), indoor track, pool or group fitness activity room?

Currently there is no open gym (basketball court), indoor track, or pool available at either campus and only the Red Mountain campus is accommodated with a separate group fitness activity room.

What is the difference between PED101, PED103 and PED115?

PED101FL is a 1-credit course that requires 26 workouts for the semester enrolled and PED115 is a 2-credit course that requires 52 workouts for the semester enrolled. In both courses, workouts should be completed in the MCC Fitness Center, however, students have the option to complete 50% of their workouts on their own outside of the MCC Fitness Center.  PED103FL is a 0.5 credit course that requires 13 workouts for the semester enrolled.  This course requires the student to complete 100% of their workouts at MCC Fitness Center only.

How do I sign up for a Silver Sneakers, Active&Fit, or Renew/Active membership with my insurance?

Potential members who would like to enroll in Silver Sneakers, Active&Fit, or Renew/Active program can request a membership using our Insurance Program Membership Request Form

Do the fitness centers offer guest passes?

Yes, you can receive a FREE one-day guest pass to try out the fitness center. Visit the fitness center front desk to claim your FREE one-day guest pass!  

The MCC Fitness Centers also offer a One-Week Guest pass for only $10 that can be purchased on PurplePass.

Are there any hidden fees associated with a membership?

There are no enrollment fees or annual fees associated with memberships. The price you see is the price you pay.

Where do I pay for my membership?

You can pay for your membership in person at Cashier's Services (located in the Enrollment Center, building 39), online by going to your Student Center, or by calling 480-461-7000 and pressing option 3. Click here for more information on payment options.

Is there a cancellation fee or a refund for cancelling the membership?

While there is no cancellation fee, THERE ARE NO REFUNDS for credit and non-credit memberships after the membership start date. If you would like to cancel your credit or non-credit membership prior to the start date, you may do so in your Student Center.  After the start date, you do have the option to submit a Refund Exception Appeal through the Mesa Community College Enrollment Center for further review. While approval is not guaranteed, this is the appropriate next step if you wish to pursue an appeal.
