Undergraduate Research at Mesa Community College is a form of creative, inquiry-based learning in which students explore data-driven questions to deepen their understanding of the natural and cultural world. This experience-based, imaginative, and active learning approach connects students to real-world contexts, including social and civic engagement.
At MCC, the Life Science Department is highly committed to this model, offering both special project courses and Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs) embedded within standard classes such as BIO 181 and BIO 107.
Additionally, we are proud participants in the SEA-PHAGES program, a national research initiative in collaboration with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI).
