Revitalize the Rose Garden

Event Description: Join us at the MCC Rose Garden as we revitalize and prune the garden for the spring! The MCC Rose Garden, a partnership between Mesa-East Valley Rose Society and the Mesa Community College is the largest public rose garden in the desert southwest and is the only significant public rose garden begun since 1974. The garden provides a beautiful setting for students and the public to enjoy our nation's national flower-the rose.
Volunteer Description: Volunteers are need for a large scale pruning event on Saturday, January, 14th. Winter pruning will stimulate new growth and promote a spring burst of rose buds. This is a city-wide volunteer event where hundreds of volunteers are needed! Families, friends, faith-based groups, clubs and service organizations are welcome! 200 rose bushes will be raffled off for participating volunteers to take home at the conclusion of the pruning

•Volunteer check in will begin at 8:30am.

Point-in-Time Homeless Count

Event Description: Join the City of Mesa for the Point-in-Time homeless street and shelter count. The Point-in-Time homeless street and shelter count is an effort to learn more about the individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County and the entire country. In order to accomplish local and federal goals toward ending homelessness, we first need to know who is experiencing homelessness, where they are, and better understand the factors surrounding their homelessness.
Volunteer Description: Volunteers are needed on Tuesday, January 24th from 5:00am - 12:00pm to survey individuals experiencing homelessness in Mesa so they can be provided programs and services that will best fit their needs.
Volunteer training sessions will be offered prior to the count on the following dates:
•Wednesday, January 18th: 5:30pm - Fire Station 201, 360 E 1st St, Mesa, AZ 85201
•Monday, January 23rd: Phoenix

Event Description: The Great Arizona Beer Festival, presented by the Sun Sounds Foundation and in benefit of Sun Sounds of Arizona, will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Phoenix Civic Space Park in Phoenix, Arizona. This annual craft beer tasting event will showcase local craft brews across Arizona. In addition to brewers providing samples of their finest brewing achievements, there will be music, food, various activities and vendor displays.
All proceeds benefit Sun Sounds of Arizona, a reading and information service that broadcasts the reading of printed material to people who cannot read or hold print material due to a disability. Listeners have access to programming 24/7/365 via specially tuned radios, streaming at Sunsounds.org, Sun Dial II, a special telephone programming system, podcasts and an iblink application.
Volunteer Duties: There are plenty of volunteer opportunities available from set-up, front gate, beer pourers, to breakdown, ETC. NOTE: We have several positions that do not require pouring liquor.
Volunteers are not allowed to drink before or during the event. There are shifts on Friday for set-up the day ahead, Saturday morning shifts and non-alcohol related shifts during the event. We adhere strictly to Arizona Liquor Licensing laws. We encourage company logo wear if you are coming as a group. We have set up individual and group sign-up on Eventbrite: 2017 Great Arizona Beer Festival (GAZBF) - VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION.
Shifts and physical requirements vary based on work group. i.e some positions may require sitting, standing, lifting and/or driving a cart. Snacks and water are provided.

Event Description: The American Cancer Society Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest fundraising event to fight every cancer in every community. Each year, more than 4 million Relay For Life participants around the world rally communities to celebrate those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to fight back.
