Andrew Goodman Fellowship The Andrew Goodman Foundation works to make young voices and votes a powerful force in democracy. We support youth leadership development, voting accessibility, and social justice initiatives on campuses across the country with mini-grants to select institutions of higher learning and other financial assistance to student leaders. Join us as we inspire more young people to pursue social change work, activate important lessons of the past, and sustain today's effective social action.
Democracy Fellows ... Campus Vote Project

works with universities, community colleges, faculty, students, and election officials to reduce barriers to student voting.

Our goal is to help campuses institutionalize reforms that empower students with the information they need to register and vote.

Student Public Policy Forum Deadline to apply: Wednesday, October 9, 2024.

SPPF provides you with learning opportunities that allow you to earn course credit while being an active community citizen. You will have an opportunity to meet with a variety of elected officials and others working in the public policy arena. No prior political experience is necessary.

Students from all backgrounds, majors, and experiences are encouraged to participate. SPPF gives you an up-close experience of how the government works, including visits with local and federal policymakers. You will also have an opportunity to advocate on a higher education issue that matters to you with members of Congress.

Chancellor's Civic Leadership Medallion Deadline to apply: Friday, April 18, 2025

Students can earn the Chancellor's Civic Leadership Medallion by demonstrating how they have worked to make a difference in the community, as well as how they have developed the necessary skills to do so effectively.

All full and part-time students are eligible to apply. A complete application must be submitted to be considered for the award. Applications should include documentation for the eligible civic leadership activities that took place during the 20242025 academic year, as well as a description of the students' specific role in the activity. Students must also attach an essay reflecting on their year of civic engagement and how this will motivate them in the future. Activities may be in person or virtual.

U.S Department of State: Student Internship Progam Summer 2025 application will open in October 2024 This is a paid internship with the opportunity to work in U.S. embassies and consulates throughout the world, as well as in various bureaus located in Washington, D.C. and at Department offices around the United States. This program is designed to provide substantive learning experiences in a foreign affairs environment.

Foreign Affairs Information Technology Fellowship Deadline: January 21, 2025

If you want to use your tech skills to make a difference, see the world, and experience different cultures, the Foreign Affairs Information Technology (FAIT) Fellowship is an opportunity of a lifetime.

Funded by the U.S. Department of State, this two-year Fellowship program is a path to a career in the Foreign Service by providing academic funding for an IT-related degree, internships, professional development and mentorship culminating in an appointment in the Foreign Service as a Diplomatic Technology Officer (DTO).

Rangel Summer Enrichment Program Deadline: October 29, 2024 The Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program is a six-week summer program designed to provide undergraduate students with a deeper appreciation of current issues and trends in international affairs, a greater understanding of career opportunities in international affairs, and the enhanced knowledge and skills to pursue such careers. The Program usually selects participants (known as Rangel Scholars) each year from universities throughout the United States. This program encourages the application of members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service, women, and those with financial need. Students live at Howard University, attend classes, and participate in a variety of programs with foreign affairs professionals at Howard and at diverse locations around Washington, DC.
Gilman Scholarship Program Deadline: October 10, 2024 The U.S. Department of States Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program (Gilman Program) enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, providing them with skills critical to our national security and economic prosperity. To be eligible for the Gilman Program, applicants must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant during the time of application or provide proof that they will be receiving a Pell Grant during the term of their study abroad program or internship. The Institute of International Education has administered the program since its inception in 2001.
Critical Language Scholarship Applications will open early October

The CLS Program provides opportunities for American college and university students to study languages and cultures essential to America's engagement with the world.

Each summer, American undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at U.S. colleges and universities across the country, spend eight to ten weeks learning one of a dozen languages at an intensive study abroad institute. The CLS Program is designed to promote rapid language gains and essential intercultural fluency in regions that are critical to U.S. national security and economic prosperity.

Civic Influencers

Civic Influencers is a nonpartisan, nonprofit that activates young people’s civic power through organizing, learning, and advocacy. We use real-time data to draw attention to democracy power outages on campuses and in communities, and train young people to fight for youth voting rights and the policies they care about. We design youth-centered, data-driven civic action projects that remove barriers to voting and push decision makers to give young people a seat at the table.
