Participants play with their unified partner in a 9-hole game at each practice. Golf carts are provided for transportation on the course. Golf partners would need their own set of golf clubs.

• Unified Partner: commit to attending 2-3 practices in January and play in the Special Olympics Pickleball Competition. Must have prior pickleball playing experience and knowledge of pickleball rules

Your Partner Agency: Trees Matter
Event Description/Details: Join us at Pioneer Park on Saturday, October 24th for a community tree distribution and education event as part of the City of Mesa’s Neighborhood Shade Tree Program. This program helps Mesa residents select and plant the right trees in the right places to provide shade, reduce urban heat, and grow the neighborhood tree canopy.
Volunteers will help with tasks such as welcoming and directing participants, assisting with tree distribution, helping residents load their trees, and providing general event support. No previous tree or gardening experience is required—just a willingness to help and work with the community!
Volunteer Description/Details: Volunteer shift times varies depending on the role.
Tree Unloader
Volunteers will assist taking trees off the truck and staging them in the tree corral area. *Trees weigh approximately 10-15 lbs
Event Set-Up
Volunteers help set up the event by staging tables, chairs, and other event materials
Group Ambassador
Volunteers will guide a group from one learning station to the next, helping keep the groups organized
Event Entrance Volunteer
The entrance volunteer will help participants sign-in and provide their materials.
Tree Corral Entrance Volunteer
Volunteers will help at the entrance of the tree corral after participants have gone through the learning stations and are ready to pick out their trees
Tree Corral Exit Volunteer
Volunteers will gather tree order forms and assist participants after they have picked out their trees
Tree Runner
Volunteers will assist participants getting the trees from the tree corral area to their vehicles. *Trees weigh approximately 10-15 lbs

This role is for arborists or master gardeners with knowledge on tree care. Experts will answer questions participants may have about their trees

Help us develop civic engagement curricula that teaches civic engagement to middle school kids using dog or pet ownership as the catalyst. Create multi-racial hot car awareness ads. Inviting elected officials in the districts the student lives to submit photos. Invite friends and family to like our social media pages as we expand our brand beyond Arizona.

Virtual Service Opportunity & Info: The MCC Arboretum maintains a database and map of the campus trees. The database needs to be updated regularly as trees are removed or added. It also contains scientific information about the tree species, but there is missing information that needs to be researched and input. The map also needs updating and maintenance.
Volunteer Requirements: Access to a computer with internet and limited computer skills are required for the database maintenance. Knowledge of computer programming, specifically Javascript, is required for the map project.

Virtual Service Opportunity & Info: Volunteers are needed for Azura Literacy’s virtual reading program. Volunteers will be tutoring elementary students in reading one-on-one through Zoom twice a week for 45 minutes, providing individualized support to struggling readers.
Volunteer Requirements:
- at least 18 years old
- have access to a computer and high-speed internet connection
- proficient in the following computer skills: using internet browsers & websites – switching between multiple open tabs; Zoom meetings & screen sharing
- pass a literacy screener
- Level 1 fingerprint clearance (if you do not have a current valid card, we can cover the cost of the DPS application; volunteers cover the $8.25 scanning fee)
- interview with the program director, including demonstrating competency using Zoom screen sharing and navigating multiple tabs in a web browser
- complete the self-paced e-trainings (12-15 hours total) & attend a live Zoom meeting for new tutors (2 hours)
- commitment to at least 1.5 hours per week (two separate 45-minute sessions) for at least a 16 week semester (or 8 weeks in summer) but preferably for 1 year
- commitment to attending a monthly volunteer meeting (1 hour/month)
