The Life and Environmental Sciences Department offers a variety of courses to meet the needs of Mesa Community College students, including those in biology, anatomy and physiology, geography, and sustainability.
Most of our courses satisfy natural science requirements for degrees at MCC and other institutions, and are easily transferred.
Several courses prepare students for prehealth professional programs or the revolutionary field of biotechnology. Mesa Community College was the first community college in the state of Arizona to offer an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree and Certificate of Completion in Biotechnology.
We also offer courses in sustainability and geography, for students interested in careers in environmental science, urban planning, or geospatial technology.
For students looking to major in biology and transfer to a four year university, major in a prehealth professional program, or study Biotechnology.
For students looking for individual biology courses to fulfill their laboratory science requirements or for personal growth and interest.
