Federal Work Study (FWS) means JOBS on campus for students. It is a form of federal financial aid. To be eligible, you must:

  • have a complete FAFSA on file at MCC

  • have an unmet financial need

  • enroll in at least six (6) credit hours

  • meet satisfactory academic progress

FWS - Front Desk Assistant - Career Services

FWS - Office Assistant - Nursing Department

Job Summary:
Employees will provide customer service and detailed information to students, faculty, staff, and community members who come into the nursing department.

Pay Rate: $15.50 per hour, up to 19.5 hours per week

Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday (2pm - 6pm)

Essential Functions:

  • Greet clients at Front Desk/Reception areas.
  • Answer general questions including through phone calls and emails with professionalism.
  • Assist with data entry tasks

FWS - Student Services - Admissions and Records (multiple openings)

Job Summary:
This position in Admissions & Records at Mesa Community College provides comprehensive support to students seeking assistance with resolving admissions, records, registration, and payment-related services in a one-stop enrollment services model to new and continuing students with high levels of accuracy and customer service.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides support for the Enrollment Services Welcome Desk
  • Assists with self-service computer stations
  • Aids students with admissions, records and registration processes, answering financial aid questions, guiding students through process and next steps, processing various Admissions & Records forms
  • Make referrals to other departments based on student needs
  • Provides customers with clear, complete and accurate responses to their questions and document interactions in the Student Information System (SIS) and various systems
  • Other Enrollment Services related support or other duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Customer service experience involving a high volume of public contact
  • Effective interpersonal skills and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of office productivity software (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, etc) and computer technology

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a student support area in higher education
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures

FWS - Department Assistant - Community Outreach / Early College

Pay Rate: $12.80 per hour, up to 19.5 hours per week

Duties Include:The position will be providing support and retention services to all our Early College Programs – ACE/HOL/ECA. Work in collaboration with the Early College manager on the coordination, design and implementation of workshops/presentations/activities/group discussions. Provide retention efforts
and resources to program participants, collect and track data for program retention efforts, provide
support on recruiting activities/events.

FWS - America Reads Tutor - Center for Community and Civic Engagement

Duties Include:
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. Be at student at Mesa Community College
  2. Received federal financial aid (Pell Grant) from Mesa Community College*
  3. Available to work the 2022-2023 academic year
  4. Enjoy working with young children and passionate about learning
  5. Able to pass a background check and/or obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  6. Have your own transportation to the school you will be working at
  7. Completed or tested out of RDG091
  8. Attend mandatory meetings every Friday from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Job Duties:

The role of an America Reads Tutor is to support the academic learning and instruction of students in local elementary schools. The primary grades are kindergarten through third grade. Primarily tutors should spend their time tutoring reading, writing, and/or math. The teacher the tutor is placed with may have additional classroom duties.

FWS - Community Engagement Assistant - Center for Community and Civic Engagement

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. Be a student at Mesa Community College

  4. Attend mandatory student staff meetings on Fridays from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm

Job Duties:
The role of the Community Engagement Assistant is vital to the success of the Center for Community & Civic Engagement! The job duties and responsibilities include:

  • Working under the supervision of office staff to help coordinate department projects, programs, and events.
  • Assist with general office work.
  • Provide incoming students, staff/faculty, and the community with pertinent departmental information and/or documents.
  • Provide general assistance to students, staff/faculty, and the community with service-learning and civic engagement information.
  • Attend campus and/or community tabling events to promote student engagement opportunities and departmental information.
  • Assist with events, including but not limited to; set up, clean up, staffing, and food preparation. May assist with technological support; creating flyers, data entry, research, etc.

FWS - Student Employee / Testing Assistant - Testing Services @ Red Mountain campus

Duties Include: Position still available at Red Mountain testing services office.

  • Know the Enrollment Process and where testing fits into this process. We will train you as long as you are willing to learn and adapt to your role and be able to perform your job duty.
  • Guide students how to maximize test preparation, knowledge of Boot Camps, retest policy.
  • Test security, ethical expectations of students, reporting of academic dishonesty issues
  • Review instructions for faculty exams, monitor spreadsheet(s), administer faculty exams
  • Assists students with Student Center—self-service
  • Administers college placement tests, ESL, faculty make-up exams. (but not their teacher)
  • Phones, computers, excellent customer service.

Duties Include:

FWS - Tour Guides - Outreach and Recruitment

Duties Include:
The position will be the first point of contact for prospective students and their parents. Tour guides will deliver in-person and virtual campus tours associating buildings with programs of study, exploring points of interest, locations of services, etc. These tours could be in small, medium, or large groups. Tour guides may also be required to perform other job-related duties as assigned. The ideal candidate would have:
