Federal Work-Study (FWS) serves as a federal financial aid program, providing students with part-time employment to help cover educational expenses.
How to qualify for Federal Work-Study?
To be eligible for Federal Work-Study (FWS), you must:
- Have a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with our college.
- Demonstrate unmet financial need based on your FAFSA results.
- Be enrolled in at least six credit hours, maintaining satisfactory academic progress.
- Be proactive in exploring FWS positions and completing required application materials.
If you are interested in an FWS position at MCC, your first step is to complete the FWS Student Interest Form. Most FWS positions require a resume and sometimes a cover letter. For guidance on crafting an effective resume and cover letter, visit the Professional Development and Job Readines site.

The Food Pantry Worker plays a vital role in addressing food insecurity among a diverse population of students, faculty, staff and community members. This position involves customer service and operations of the campus food pantry, ensuring that food distribution is conducted efficiently, respectfully, and in accordance with all safety and health guidelines. The Food Pantry Worker provides essential support to individuals facing food insecurity, contributes to the overall well-being of the college community, and promotes awareness of food equity issues. The Food Pantry Worker inventories and stocks pantry items and tracks students' use of the pantry. Provides event support for food distribution events on MCC campuses. To include, but not limited to the creation and placement of advertisements and marketing, event set up and take down, and recruitment of volunteers.Essential Functions:
- Assist in the daily operations of the food pantry, including opening, closing, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the space.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions as required to stay informed about best practices and policies related to food insecurity and pantry management.
- Support the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers who assist with food pantry operations.
- Welcome and assist clients in a respectful and non-judgmental manner, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported.
- Engage with customers and provide information relating to the use of the Mesa Market and respond to questions accurately.
- Respond to visitor inquiries via phone, email, chat, or walk-ins.
- Check-in and track students' use of the Mesa Market.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all students and staff accessing the food pantry services.
- Assist in compiling data for reports on pantry usage and client demographics as required by the college or external funding sources.
- Stock shelves, rotate inventory, and manage food donations to ensure that all items are fresh and safe for consumption.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and assist with inventory management to maintain adequate supplies.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines related to food storage, handling, and distribution.
- Assist with the organization and provision of the food distribution program.
- Maintain accurate records of food distribution, client interactions, and inventory levels.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all students, staff and community members accessing food distribution services.
- Assist with technological support; creating flyers, data entry, reporting, research, etc.
- Work collaboratively with other campus departments, student organizations, and external partners to enhance food pantry services and support.
- Participate in outreach activities to raise awareness about the food pantry and issues of food inequity within the college community. Provide information and resources to clients about additional support services available on campus and in the community.
Minimum Qualifications:

Mesa Community College is hiring several Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry Student Learning Facilitators to work as embedded tutors during the upcoming Spring semester. These positions provide in-person and online tutoring for Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry courses in the Learning Enhancement Center and support students in the classroom as assigned.Essential Functions:
- 85% Provides tailored tutoring support to students in an assigned course section; Attends class meetings as assigned and based on modality; Provides in-person and/or online tutoring to students in the Learning Enhancement Center while implementing effective study strategies; Utilizes effective communication skills to help students understand complex material; Works with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff.
- 15% Delivers review sessions/workshops, provides asynchronous support, and creates resources for assigned course section as requested; Maintains student attendance for review sessions/workshops and tutoring records; Engages students in instructional activities using educational technology hardware and software programs such as video conferencing tools, ConexED, Google Workspace, Canvas, TracCloud, etc; Provides student status and recommendations to program leads and collaborates with instructors.
