Work Study Jobs

Federal Work Study (FWS) means JOBS on campus for students. It is a form of federal financial aid. To be eligible, you must:

  • have a complete FAFSA on file at MCC

  • have an unmet financial need

  • enroll in at least six (6) credit hours

  • meet satisfactory academic progress

To determine your eligibility for this program, please go to the Enrollment Center and visit with the Financial Aid department to receive your FWS eligibility (green) slip.

Office Assistant - Athletics - Fall 2019

Duties Include: Sign student athletes into advisortrac. Assist with grade checks and some aspects of the enrollment process. Other duties as assigned.

Pay Rate: $11.25 per hour, up to 19.5 hours per week

Costume Shop Stitcher - Theatre and Film Arts - Fall 2019

Duties Include: Creation and repair of costumes for the Theatre department. An ideal candidate will have taken THP201 or TEC111, have sewing experience, and be eager to learn new things.

Pay Rate: $11.25 per hour, up to 19.5 hours per week. Hours vary. Shop hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Student Gardener - MCC Rose Garden/Maintenance & Operations - Fall 2019

Duties Include: Duties will be to assist with general maintenance of the Rose Garden at Mesa Community College. Seeking someone who is safety conscious and interested in horticulture or related subject matter and has:

  • Experience with pulling weeds, pruning, fertilizing, trash pick-up, and/or watering
  • The ability to lift 50 pounds and operate mechanical equipment
  • The ability to work independently and responsibly
  • The ability to work well with others (volunteers and the public)
  • An interest in working outdoors between 5:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in varying temperatures

Pay Rate: $11.25 per hour, up to 19.5 hours per week. Work hours will vary Monday through Friday between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

AV Assistant - Media Services - Fall 2019

Duties Include: Assist Media Services staff with daily campus duties including but not limited to equipment pick-up and delivery, general office duties, front counter support, and general assistance with Audio Visual set-ups and installations.

Office Assistant - Outreach and Recruitment - Fall 2019

Duties Include: The position will be the first point of contact for current and prospective students. Provide excellent customer service to a diverse population of students, employees, and members of the public via telephone, email, and in person. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Customer service experience
  • Experience using effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate experience performing multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail
  • Experience with recruitment, sales, and/or marketing
  • Familiarity with all Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Experience working with databases, Excel spreadsheets, and generating reports
  • Work with variety of communication platforms, Auto-dial systems, Instant Messaging, Mass Text methods, etc.
  • Ability to Multi-task
  • Preferably bi-lingual in Spanish

Financial Aid Assistant - Financial Aid - Fall 2019

Duties Include: Welcome students to the Enrollment Center, triage and answer enrollment and registration questions, assist students with self-service computer stations, answer questions about filling-out the FAFSA and related forms, provide clerical assistance (document scanning, filing, and data entry), may be assigned to special projects, other duties as assigned.

Pay Rate: $12.00 per hour, up to 19.5 hours per week

Assistant Teacher - Children's Center - Fall 2019

Duties Include: Prefer student who is an education major and who has experience. Assists lead teacher in preschool classroom with setting up activities, engaging with small children, and cleaning up. Prefer if individual has a fingerprint clearance card. Must have a negative TB test and be able to provide either a high school diploma, transcript, or GED. The MCC Children's Center is part of Quality First, accredited by NAEYC, and is licensed by the State of Arizona.

Pay Rate: $11.25 per hour, up to 19.5 hours per week depending on availability

Student Enrollment Assistant - Enrollment Services (Admissions & Records) - Fall 2019

Duties Include: Welcome students to the Enrollment Center, answer enrollment and registrations questions, provide general information and direct to appropriate services; assist students using self-service computer stations, create student ID cards, and operate virtual waiting line technology; assist with special events and projects; provide general office support (ie: document scanning, filing, data entry); assist students via phone and email. Multiple positions available.

Pay Rate: $12.00 or more per hour (based on eligibility), up to 19.5 hours per week

America Reads Tutor - Center for Community and Civic Engagement - Fall 2019

Duties Include: Successful applicants will attend an orientation, attend a mandatory weekly meeting on Fridays from 3pm - 4pm, commit to work at one school with a set group of students for one year, complete or test out of RDG091, and be willing to help plan events such as Scholastic Book Fair and Dr. Seuss' Birthday

Pay Rate: $13 per hour

Community Engagement Assistant- Center for Community & Civic Engagement - Fall 2019

Duties Include: Customer Service, assisting with events, typing, filing, making copies, and using your personality to promote the department and its events at tabling opportunities on campus. Applicants must be reliable team players. Only positive minded students need apply.

Three work schedules available:

  • Schedule 1: Monday - Thursday (7:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.), Fridays (7:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.)
  • Schedule 2: Monday - Friday (11:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.)
  • Schedule 3: Monday - Thursday (2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.), Fridays (12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

Pay Rate: $11.50 per hour

Office Assistant - Counseling - Fall 2019

Duties Include: Perform various clerical duties which may include reception, customer service, answering phones, scheduling appointments, data entry, screening documents for accuracy and completeness, written correspondence, email, filing, and other duties as directed. There are 2 or 3 positions available.

Pay Rate: $11.25 per hour, up to 19.5 hours per week

MCC Federal Work-Study Supervisors

Use the FWS Job Order Form. Complete the form and forward to Career Services for posting. Please also remember to let us know when you have filled an opening, so we can keep our records current. Make sure to review and complete all items on the Supervisor checklist.
