Student FWS Forms 2016-17

Federal Work Study (FWS) means JOBS on campus for students. It is a form of federal financial aid. To be eligible, you must:

  • have a complete FAFSA on file at MCC

  • have an unmet financial need

  • enroll in at least six (6) credit hours (may vary for summer FWS)

America Reads Tutor - Center for Community & Civic Engagement

Duties: The America Reads Program encourages tutors to help elementary-age children read well and independently.
Successful applicants will:

  1. Attend an orientation
  2. Attend mandatory weekly meetings on Fridays from 2:30pm - 4:30pm where you will be trained on reading techniques to use with children inthe classroom
  3. Commit to work at one school with a set group of students for one year
  4. Complete or test out of RDG091
  5. Be willing to help plan events such as Scholastic Book Fair and Dr. Seuss' Birthday

Pay rate: $10 per hour, 10 hours per week.

Office Assistant - Center for Community & Civic Engagement

Duties Include: Customer service, assisting with events, typing, filing, making copies and more.  Applicants must be reliable and a team player.  Only positive minded students need apply.  

Pay rate: $10 per hour, 15.5 hours per week.  Must be able to work the following shifts: Tuesday (10:30am - 4:30pm), Thursday (11am - 5pm), and Friday (10:30am - 2pm)

Office Assistant - English Department

Duties: High quality customer service to prospective and current students, faculty, and other department staff and the general public both in person and on the telephone.  Use various online programs and locate data through file naviation, assistance with photocopying, scanning, and filling out forms, document prep using various computer software programs, campus errands, and other duties as assigned.  Must be proactive and motivated to learn.  Must be able to lift 30lbs.  Previous customer service experience preferred.  

Pay rate: $10 per hour, up to 19 hours per week.  Shift starting at 12pm.

Recycling Collector

Duties Include:  Requires an Arizona Driver's License.  Collect campus recycling while sorting materials, clean recycling bins.  Lifting and outdoor work in hot and cold temperatures.  Must be reliable, communicate effectively with employees, and have an attention to detail.  Fast-paced work. 

Pay rate: $10 per hour, up to 19.5 hours per week.  Flexible shifts Monday - Thursday, must be available between 3-7 hours at a time between the hours of 6am and 3pm.  May be able to work shifts around class schedule.

Lab Assistant-Physical Science- Red Mountain Campus

Duties: Physical Science stockroom half time student lab assistant. Responsibilities include assisting lab techs with lab preparation, washing dishes, general cleaning, office, maintenance and other duties as assigned.

Pay rate: $10.00 an hour with available work hours dependent on the availability of the student and will be scheduled around the students class schedule and department need

Front Counter Clerk - Community Outreach Center

Duties Include:  This position will be the first point of contact for current and prospective students.  Provide excellent customer service to a diverse population of students, employees and members of the public via telephone, email and in person.  Perform other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications: 

  • extensive customer service experience
  • experience using effective oral and written communication skills
  • demonstrate experience performing multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail
  • ability to multi-task
  • preferably bi-lingual in spanish

Pay Rate: $10.00/hr. Hours will vary depending on class schedule and need of the office. 18 to 19.5 hour per week

Office Assistant and Tutorial support (3 positions) - Athletics

Duties Include:  Basic clerical duties such as data entry and document filing.  Must have good oral and written communication skills, be willing to assist with academic tutoring, and work well with others.  Other job duties as assigned

Pay Rate: $10.00 per hour.  15.5 - 19.5 hours per week

Student Enrollment Assistant - Admissions & Records

Duties Include:  Welcome students to the Enrollment Center, answer enrollment and registration questions, provide general information and direct to appropriate services; assist students using self-service computer stations, create student ID cards, and operate virtual waiting line technology; assist with special events and projects; provide general office support (i.e: document scanning, filing, data entry); assist students via phone and by email.  Multiple positions available.

  • a desire to help other students

Pay Rate: $10.00 per hour.  Up to 19.5 hours per week.  Shifts vary: Monday - Friday (8am - 6pm)

Student Gardener - Rose Garden at MCC (multiple positions)

Duties Include: Assist with general maintenance of the Rose Garden such as weeding, pruning, watering, trash pick-up, etc.

Pay Rate: $10.00 per hour.  Up to 19.5 hours per week.  Shifts vary: Monday - Friday (5am - 1:30pm)

Front Desk Office Assistant - Instructional Support (Red Mountain Campus)

Duties Include: Perform various clerical duties which may include reception customer service, answering phones, scheduling appointments, data entry, screening documents for accuracy and completeness, written correspondence, email, filing, and other duties as directed. 

Pay Rate: $10.50 per hour.  15-19.5 hours per week.  Shifts vary: Monday - Friday (8am-6pm)

Children's Center - Teacher's Aide (Multiple positions)

Duties Include:  Able to follow directions of the lead teachers and/or director of the Center.

Pay Rate: $10.00 per hour.  Up to 19.5 hours per week.  Shifts vary based on the needs of the center.
