Federal Work Study (FWS) means JOBS on campus for students. It is a form of federal financial aid. To be eligible, you must:

  • have a complete FAFSA on file at MCC

  • have an unmet financial need

  • enroll in at least six (6) credit hours

  • meet satisfactory academic progress

Job Summary: Provides Customer Service to a diverse population of students, staff, faculty and community members. Assists with answering phones, answering student questions, scheduling appointments, and other administrative duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Skills required for Front Desk Position:

  • Experience in a customer service work environment

  • Typing and office related skills

  • Phone etiquette and pleasant phone personality

  • Basic computer skills in MS office and with google calendar

  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality in all office matters

  • Time management and multi-tasking

Community Engagement Assistant - Center for Community & Civic Engagement

Job Summary:
The role of the Community Engagement Assistant is vital to the success of the Center for Community & Civic Engagement! The job duties and responsibilities include working under the supervision of office staff to help coordinate department projects, programs, and events. Assist with general office work. Provide incoming students, staff/faculty, and community with pertinent departmental information and/or documents. Provide general assistance to students, staff/faculty, and community with service-learning and civic engagement information. Attend campus and/or community tabling events to promote student engagement opportunities and departmental information. Assist with events, including but not limited to; set up, clean up, staffing, and food preparation. May assist with technological support; creating flyers, data entry, research, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be a student at Mesa Community College (minimum of 6 credit hours)

  • Receive federal financial aid (Pell Grant) from Mesa Community College*

  • Available to work the 2023-2024 academic year

  • Attend mandatory student staff meetings on Fridays.

Special Working Conditions:

  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
  • May require prolonged periods of standing or sitting
  • Work alternating open and close shifts
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 25 pounds

American Reads Tutor - Center for Community & Civic Engagement

Job Summary:
The Center for Community and Civic Engagement is hiring for the role of an America Reads Tutor to support the academic learning and instruction for students in local elementary schools. The primary grades are kindergarten through third grade. Primarily tutors should spend their time tutoring in reading, writing, and/or math. The teacher the tutor is placed with may have additional classroom duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be at student at Mesa Community College

  • Received federal financial aid (Pell Grant) from Mesa Community College*

  • Available to work the 2023-2024 academic year

  • Enjoy working with young children and passionate about learning

  • Able to pass a background check and/or obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

  • Have your own transportation to the school you will be working at

  • Attend mandatory meetings every Friday, time to be determined.

Desk Assistant - Learning Enhancement Center (multiple positions)

Job Summary:
Mesa Community College is hiring several Desk Assistants positions to work in the Fall 2023 semester. These positions provide reliable clerical assistance and outstanding customer service in the Learning Enhancement Center.

Essential Functions:

  • 60% Greets and logs students in and out for Center usage; provides front-line customer service; schedules tutoring appointments; monitors the virtual front desk

  • 25% Answers/routes incoming calls; tracks Center resources; provides clerical assistance; performs data entry

  • 15% Connects students with tutors; stocks center with materials; performs duties commensurate to grade level of position.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Awarded Federal Work Study

  • Possess customer service orientation

  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Basic knowledge of Google Suite and MS Office.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience multi-tasking in a busy setting
  • Experience working in a team-oriented environment
  • Experience handling confidential information.

Special Working Conditions:

  • Desk Assistants will work in-person and may work at various LEC locations on the Southern and Dobson or Red Mountain campus.
