Work Study Jobs

Federal Work Study (FWS) means JOBS on campus for students. It is a form of federal financial aid. To be eligible, you must:

  • have a complete FAFSA on file at MCC

  • have an unmet financial need

  • enroll in at least six (6) credit hours 

  • meet satisfactory academic progress

To determine your eligibility for this program, please go to the Enrollment Center and visit with the Financial Aid department to receive your FWS eligibility (green) slip.

FWS Job Openings 

Assistant Teacher - Children's Center

Summary of the Job: Main role is to assist the lead teachers in day to day operations of the Children’s Center.

Knowledge and Abilities: Ideally the job candidate would be pursuing a degree in education or has a degree. certificate or CDA in Early Childhood or related field. Knowledge of: child development, recreational and educational activities appropriate to preschool children; first aid
Ability to: interpret written documents; maintain accurate records; prepare meals; provide under direction a wide variety of positive stimulating experiences for children; communicate effectively and establish cooperative working relationships.

Training and Experience: Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. An example of this would be experience in a childcare program and must meet NAEYC accreditation requirements.

Special Conditions of Employment: Position requires Arizona State certification in CPR, a current First Aid certificate and meets NAEYC accreditation requirements.

Student Ambassador - Student Life and Leadership

Summary of the Job: Student Ambassadors are representatives of the college to act as a first point of contact for prospective students, current students and the community.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2.50 GPA and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
  • Responsible, creative and energetic
  • Able to complete 12 hour ASA Peer Mentoring training and continuous training as needed
  • Knowledge of FASFA, SIS,, enrollment processes, MS Office
  • Knowledge of and ability to speak about on and off campus resources
  • Professional demeanor in fast paced office setting
  • Ability to work in a team setting with diverse student populations
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather including some late and/or weekend hours
  • Maintain FERPA guidelines
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. (sandwich boards, boxes, supplies, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bilingual
  • AZ Driver's License
  • Comfortable speaking in front of groups - large or small
  • Creativity in designing marketing materials (fliers, posters, signs, etc.)

Office Assistant and Tutorial support (3 positions) - Athletics (Summer and Fall positions available)

Duties Include:  Basic clerical duties such as data entry and document filing.  Must have good oral and written communication skills, be willing to assist with academic tutoring, and work well with others.  Other job duties as assigned

Pay Rate: $10.50 per hour.  15.5 - 19.5 hours per week

Financial Aid @ Red Mountain

Duties: Provide customer service assistance to current and prospective students at the front counter.  One-stop enrollment services, including but not limited to admissions, registration, and financial aid.  Provide general office support (i.e: document scanning, filing, data entry).  This position is located at the Red Mountain campus only.  


  • High school diploma or GED and some college
  • Experience providing courteous customer service over the phone or in person
  • Experience working with a diverse population
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to maintain professionalism including punctuality and reliability
  • Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
  • Experience with MS Office programs (word, excel, power point)

Pay Rate: $10.50 per hour, up to 19.5 hours per week.  Flexible work hours Monday - Thursday (8am - 6pm) and Friday (8am - 5pm)
