What is Federal Work-Study?
Federal Work-Study (FWS) serves as a federal financial aid program, providing students with part-time employment to help cover educational expenses.

How to qualify for Federal Work-Study?
To be eligible for Federal Work-Study (FWS), you must:
- Have a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with our college.
- Demonstrate unmet financial need based on your FAFSA results.
- Be enrolled in at least six credit hours, maintaining satisfactory academic progress.
- Be proactive in exploring FWS positions and completing required application materials.
If you are interested in an FWS position at MCC, your first step is to complete the FWS Student Interest Form. Most FWS positions require a resume and sometimes a cover letter. For guidance on crafting an effective resume and cover letter, visit the Professional Development and Job Readines site.

Testing Assistant
Status: Federal Work-Study Position
Location: Mesa Community College - Red Mountain Campus ; Mesquite Building / Enrollment Services
Department: Testing
Pay Rate: $15.15 an hour
Hours Per Week: 19.5 hours per week
Work Schedule: Monday, 11-5 pm, Tuesday 1-5 pm, Thursday 1-5pm, 11:30am-5 pm

Administers a variety of academic assessments and computer based tests to students and community members using various online systems and software while providing a high-level of direct customer service. Supports the testing center team and ensure a secure and appropriate testing environment. High quality customer service experience is a must.Essential Functions:
- Administers a variety of academic assessments and computer based tests to students and community members using various online systems and software while providing a high-level of direct customer service.
- Acts as the official test proctor for these exams, follows strict MCCCD district’s and exam sponsor’s guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Maintains confidential testing records, databases and exams.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
- Supports the testing center team and ensure a secure and appropriate testing environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Be a student at Mesa Community College
- Received federal financial aid (Pell Grant) from Mesa Community College*
- Available to work the 2025-2026 academic year
- Federal Work Study Eligibility Confirmation (you will receive an email from the Office of Financial Aid stating that you have been awarded)
- Able to pass a background check
- Experience working with computers to include databases and spreadsheets, and a willingness to learn other software applications
- Experience providing effective and courteous customer service
- Experience in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Basic testing room and space sanitation
Desired Qualifications:
- Must have experience in customer services
Special Working Conditions:
- May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
- May require prolonged periods of standing or sitting
- Work alternating open and close shifts
- May be required to lift or carry up to 25 pounds

Front Office Assistant

The Psychological Science Department is looking for a Federal Work Study student office assistant whose abilities are performing clerical tasks, providing customer service and supporting the administrative specialist in an academic setting to ensure the office is running efficiently. We seek applicants who are enthusiastic, proactive, and demonstrate a willingness to learn on the job to support student success.Essential Functions:
- Greet visitors who come into our office, including students, faculty, and administrators
- Answer phones, taking messages, sending emails
- Support faculty and staff needs such as: making copies, coordinating department events, and other special projects
- Partake in setting up/taking down events for special events hosted by the department
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a Federal Work Study Student (must have 2025-2026 FAFSA application completed before applying)
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Google Suite knowledge
- Effective oral and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Work availability: Monday-Thursday 2pm-7pm
