Job Title: Student Enrollment Specialist (2 positions available I & II) 

Status:  Part Time, RPS position contracts end on June 30, 2019 with continuation dependent on funding 

Pay Rate Schedule: Hourly 

Pay Rate: $12.67 per hour

Work hours- Position I​: Monday - Thursday, 8:00am-1:00pm and Friday, 10:00am-3:00pm 25.0 per week maximum 
Work hours -Position II​: Monday - Thursday, 1:00pm-6:00pm and Friday, 12:00pm-5:00pm 25.0 per week maximum 

Special Working Conditions: 25 hours per week and up to 40 hours per week during peak enrollment cycles during (January and August). Working at multiple locations (Red Mountain and Southern & Dobson) campus locations may be required. 

Job Summary: 
Provide comprehensive one-stop enrollment services to new and continuing students with high levels of accuracy and customer service. 
Essential Functions: 
Assist students with the enrollment steps; including admissions application, financial aid processes, registration and cashier services.  Process admission, records  and registration related forms using online student information systems; assist students with online self-service options and place them into a virtual waiting line system; identify student needs and refer to appropriate campus resources. Create student id cards and assist with special events and projects; provide general office support (i.e.: document scanning, filing, data entry); assist students via phone and by email.  

Required qualifications​: Excellent customer service and communication skills, experience using computers, excitement about MCC and a desire to help other students.

Social Services Student Specialist - Student Success Programs

Status: Temporary RPS – Level 2 

Location: Mesa Community College, Student Success Center 

Department: Student Success Programs

Job Summary: 
The Social Services Student Specialist will play a critical role in providing both on and off campus resources.  This position will assist students who are referred through Mesa Community College’s Early Alert Program. The MCC Early Alert program assists students throughout their time at MCC by providing services through prevention, intervention and academic recovery. This position will collaborate with the Department of Economic Security (DES) in assisting students with applying for DES resources and will provide program support for department retention and completion initiatives.  This position assists in assessing the needs of our students and guides them to the appropriate resources both on and off campus. 

The Social Services Student Specialist will be responsible for: 

  • Collaborating with the Department of Economic Services (DES), to assist students in applying for resources that address food insecurity, housing needs, etc.
  • Collaborating with other student success programs such as TRiO, American Indian Institute, Veterans and Disability resources.
  • Collaborating with other campus departments such as counseling and disability resources in creating wrap around case management to students
  • Maintaining up to date information on student services and resources
  • Serving as a point of contact for our Early Alert program
  • Co-facilitating student groups or workshops to support student engagement, learning and development
  • Leading and assisting staff and/or students with events or projects
  • Tracking participation rates and creating reports

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or other related fields
  • Experience working with at risk populations
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of social service providers
  • Experience developing presentations, reports, workshops, etc.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google applications

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with social services entities such as DES, housing placement, food insecurity, etc.
  • Bilingual
  • Experience working with and facilitating groups

Student Ambassadors (Red Mountain Campus) - Student Life and Leadership - Fall 2019

Duties Include:  Assist with planning and implementation of campus events, oversee student lounge, assist students in the Mesa Market, lead campus tours, post flyers/posters and other advertisements around campus, assist with needs of the Office of Student Life & Leadership

90% Provides in-person tutoring to students in the Biology Center; works with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff
10% Provides student status and recommendations to the supervisor; assist with workshops, class presentations and other student success activities; other duties as assigned

Job Summary: The MCC Outreach Center provides college access programs and services for early college students through a variety of programs, such as ACE, Hoop of Learning, Dual Enrollment and Concurrent Enrollment. The department also provides adult education access through GED to MCC and ELL programs. Families and other community members also partake in specialized programs such as College Starts Now, Keys to Success Early College Foster Youth Program, and innovative youth summer camps. The MCC Outreach Center also provides n1ultiple c01nmunity outreach services to provide information and support for community members who wish to access college services and experiences. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Monitor Front Desk by greeting, announcing and providing assistance to all visitors in a professional and welcoming manner
  • Answer, screen, refer and manage a high volume of calls in a polite and professional manner, perform enrollment services related functions for all programs, respond to inquiries generated via phone, email and web
  • Track all walk-ins and phone calls and report them to Front Desk Team Lead
  • Assist office staff with daily operations including document processing, data entry, and other tasks as assigned

    Job Summary: 
    TRIO SSS Peer Academic Tutors will play a critical role in student engagement and success for participants in the TRIO Student Support Services Program (SSS). As an Academic Tutor, you will help build positive learning communities for TRIO SSS participants, create meaningful connections with participants and staff, and support participant academic success to reinforce the mission and goals of TRIO SSS.  TRIO SSS Academic Tutors will provide individual and group tutoring in specific subject areas, to SSS participants, to supplement services provided on campus.  We are currently in need of tutors for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.  Applicants will be agreeable to providing tutoring services within a flexible time schedule (nights, weekends) and in a variety of locations (on campus and off campus).

    Essential Functions: 

    • Help participants identify academic problem areas
    • Provide academic assistance in specific subject areas
    • Help participants develop effective learning strategies
    • Facilitate independent learning by helping SSS participants discover their own answers and insights
    • Tracking participant utilization of tutoring and creating reports

    Minimum Qualifications: 

    • Applicants have a 3.0 GPA or higher in the subject area courses related to tutoring specialty 
    • Be in good academic standing overall at MCC
    • Have completed at least one semester within the MCCCD
    • Have experience working with first-generation, low-income students and/or students with disabilities or themselves come from these backgrounds

    Desired Qualifications (if applicable): 

    • Applicants have a 3.5 GPA or higher in subject area courses related to tutoring specialty 
    • Have completed two semesters or more within the MCCCD; each semester in good academic standing
    • Have experience working with a federal TRIO program or are an alumni of a federal TRIO program
    • Verifiable tutoring experience
