Embedded Tutor - Learning Enhancement Center
Status: Temporary Level I
Location: Mesa Community College - Southern and Dobson Campus
Department: Learning Enhancement Center (Located inside the Library, First Floor)
Pay Rate: $16.00 an hour

Mesa Community College is hiring several Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry Student Learning Facilitators to work as embedded tutors during the upcoming Fall semester. These positions provide in-person and online tutoring for Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry courses in the Learning Enhancement Center and support students in the classroom as assigned.Essential Functions:
- 85% Provides tailored tutoring support to students in an assigned course section; Attends class meetings as assigned and based on modality; Provides in-person and/or online tutoring to students in the Learning Enhancement Center while implementing effective study strategies; Utilizes effective communication skills to help students understand complex material; Works with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff.
- 15% Delivers review sessions/workshops, provides asynchronous support, and creates resources for assigned course section as requested; Maintains student attendance for review sessions/workshops and tutoring records; Engages students in instructional activities using educational technology hardware and software programs such as video conferencing tools, ConexED, Google Workspace, Canvas, TracCloud, etc; Provides student status and recommendations to program leads and collaborates with instructors.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Successful completion (grade of "A") in a course where an embedded tutor will be assigned. Fall 2026 openings are for the following courses: biology, chemistry, and mathematics.
- Knowledge of course content and materials in the subject area of biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics
- Good communication skills and the ability to help students understand complex material.
- Patient and respectful of varying levels of student content knowledge
- Current student at Mesa Community College.
Desired Qualifications:
- Successful completion with a grade of A in prerequisite courses for the embedded assignment course in the areas of biology, chemistry, or mathematics.
- Knowledge of instructional methods used in the classroom at MCC
- Faculty recommendation
- Knowledge of effective study strategies
- Experience providing quality service in a fast-paced environment.
Special Working Conditions:
- Embedded tutors may work in one of the LEC locations on the Southern and Dobson or Red Mountain campus and support students in the classroom as assigned. Tutors will work in-person and provide virtual tutoring from campus.

Data Analytics/BAS Academic Support Lab Assistant
Status: Temporary Level II

Pay Rate: $15.15-$26.80 (depends on experience)
Hours Per Week: 19.5 hours per week
Work Schedule: Varied hours with a maximum of 19.5 hours per week, M-F days and evenings

This position involves the provision of intermediate to advanced academic/instructional support to students (one-on-one and small groups up to five people) in one or more content areas within the Computer Information Systems (CIS) field (including, but not limited to programming, database administration, networking and web development). This position will take place at the Mesa Community College (MCC) Southern and Dobson campus. Other positional duties as assigned.Essential Functions:
- Provides intermediate to advanced one-on-one and small group academic services, online and/or in-person for the CIS department
- Provides assistance to other lab assistants as needed
- Provides courteous customer service in person and online
- Maintains professionalism including punctuality and effective communication

- Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum five years work experience, or Associate Degree in Computer Science/CIS and minimum of three years work experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/CIS
- Relevant work experience in one or more of the following fields: Computer Programming, Computer Systems Analytics, Data Science, or Software Development
- Experience with Programming / Data Analytics
- Successful completion (B letter grade or higher) of CIS/Information Technology courses such as CIS105: Survey of Computer Information Systems or BPC110: Computer Usage and Applications
- Experience establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
- Willing to work morning, afternoon and/or evening hours
- Able to work in person and virtually
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science/CIS, or 10+ years current experience in Programming and Data Analytics
- Experience assisting students with Computer Science and/or CIS course work/assignments
- Understanding of MacOS / Linux / Windows / AWS Cloud
- Competency in some or of all of the following areas:
