    Front Desk Staff - Community Outreach Center

    Status: Part Time Staff, Hourly (25 hours per week / 40 during approved peak employment cycles)

    Location: Mesa Community College - Southern and Dobson campus

    Pay Rate: $10.50 to start (possible $11.25 after 3 months successful outcomes)

    Job Summary: 
    The MCC Outreach Center provides college access programs and services for early college students through a variety of programs, such as ACE, Hoop of Learning, Dual Enrollment, and Concurrent Enrollment.  The department also provides adult education access through GED to MCC and ELL programs.  Families and other community members also partake in specialized programs such as College Starts Now, Keys to Success Early College Foster Youth Program, and innovative youth summer camps.  The MCC Outreach Center also provides multiple community outreach services to provide information and support for community members who wish to access college services and experiences. 

    Essential Functions: 

    • Monitor Front Desk by greeting, announcing, and providing assistance to all visitors in a professional and welcoming manner
    • Answer, screen, refer, and manage a high volume of calls in a polite and professional manner; Perform enrollment services related functions for all programs; Respond to inquiries generated via phone, email, and web
    • Track all walk-ins and phone calls and report them to Front Desk Team Lead
    • Assist office staff with daily operations including document processing, data entry, and other tasks as assigned
    • Provide office support as needed
    • Other duties until assigned

    Qualifications: 

    • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to maintain a courteous, friendly mannerism when working with students and staff
    • Demonstrated organizational skills
    • Beginner to intermediate level of Microsoft office programs including Word, Excel, and Power Point
    • Experience working with a diverse population
    • Experience in an office setting and utilizing office equipment
    • Demonstrate experience performing multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Bi-lingual in Spanish
    • Experience with PeopleSoft student information systems
    • Experience with admissions and enrollment processes

    Assistant Teacher - Children's Center

    Summary of the Job: Main role is to assist the lead teachers in day to day operations of the Children’s Center.

    Knowledge and Abilities: Ideally the job candidate would be pursuing a degree in education or has a degree. certificate or CDA in Early Childhood or related field. Knowledge of: child development, recreational and educational activities appropriate to preschool children; first aid
    Ability to: interpret written documents; maintain accurate records; prepare meals; provide under direction a wide variety of positive stimulating experiences for children; communicate effectively and establish cooperative working relationships.

    Training and Experience: Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. An example of this would be experience in a childcare program and must meet NAEYC accreditation requirements.

    Special Conditions of Employment: Position requires Arizona State certification in CPR, a current First Aid certificate and meets NAEYC accreditation requirements.

    Job Summary: 
    Provide accurate, complete, & legible notes for MCC Red Mountain Disability Resources and Services of lectures/classes and/or other proceedings on behalf of students with disabilities; assist students using adaptive equipment in DRS Adaptive Lab; provides DRS front office coverage upon request; read/scribe exams as needed.

    Essential Functions:

    • Take notes on all information presented in class (instructor's lecture, students' comments, films, slides,etc.)
    • Take legible, easy to follow, and accurate notes
    • Be responsible, reliable, and thorough
    • Assist students with disabilities in classrooms and labs

    Minimum Qualifications: 
    Have a CUM GPA of 3.0 or higher, the ability to read, write, and speak English well and clearly, and to be able to commit to a stable work schedule for the entire semester.  Needs to be able to maintain confidentiality and have a professional relationship with the student.

    Job Summary: 
    TRIO SSS Peer Coaches will play a critical role in student engagement and success for participants in the TRIO Student Support Services Program (SSS). Peer Coaches are upper division students at MCC who have successfully navigated their educational journey and are passionate about helping underclassmen at MCC develop the skills necessary to become successful students. Peer coaches will work with program participants to overcome the academic and social barriers to academic success. Peer Coaches will develop meaningful and healthy connections with participants and staff, and support participant academic success to reinforce the mission and goals of TRIO SSS.

    Minimum Qualifications: 

    • Applicants must have a 2.75 CGPA or higher at MCC
    • Be in good academic standing overall at MCC
    • Have completed at least one semester within the MCCCD
    • Have experience working with first-generation, low-income students and/or students with disabilities or these experiences in their own background

    Desired Qualifications (if applicable):

    Job Summary: 
    TRIO SSS Peer Academic Tutors will play a critical role in student engagement and success for participants in the TRIO Student Support Services Program (SSS). As an Academic Tutor, you will help build positive learning communities for TRIO SSS participants, create meaningful connections with participants and staff, and support participant academic success to reinforce the mission and goals of TRIO SSS.  TRIO SSS Academic Tutors will provide individual and group tutoring in specific subject areas, to SSS participants, to supplement services provided on campus.  We are currently in need of tutors for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.  Applicants will be agreeable to providing tutoring services within a flexible time schedule (nights, weekends) and in a variety of locations (on campus and off campus).

    Essential Functions: 

    • Help participants identify academic problem areas
    • Provide academic assistance in specific subject areas
    • Help participants develop effective learning strategies
    • Facilitate independent learning by helping SSS participants discover their own answers and insights
    • Tracking participant utilization of tutoring and creating reports

    Minimum Qualifications: 

    • Applicants have a 3.0 GPA or higher in the subject area courses related to tutoring specialty (Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics)
    • Be in good academic standing overall at MCC
    • Have completed at least one semester within the MCCCD
    • Have experience working with first-generation, low-income students and/or students with disabilities or themselves come from these backgrounds

    Desired Qualifications (if applicable): 

    • Applicants have a 3.5 GPA or higher in subject area courses related to tutoring specialty (Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics)
    • Have completed two semesters or more within the MCCCD; each semester in good academic standing
    • Have experience working with a federal TRIO program or are an alumni of a federal TRIO program
    • Verifiable tutoring experience
