Student Enrollment Specialist - Enrollment Center

Status: Part Time Staff, Hourly

Job Summary: This position will provide excellent Frontline customer service to a diverse population of prospective, current, and returning students; provide information as the first point of contact in the Enrollment Center by greeting students, determining their enrollment needs, answering questions related to Enrollment Services, adding students to the virtual waiting line system, and assisting with navigation of online resources.  Process admission and registration forms; answer basic financial aid questions, provide cashiering services (e.g. take cash and credit card payments, etc.), provide general clerical assistance, filing and other duties as assigned.

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Some college and one (1) or more years of experience in customer service setting involving a high volume of public contact
  • Experience managing multiple tasks within a process or procedure
  • Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Experience working with a diverse student/customer population
  • Experience working with computer software applications such as Microsoft Office & Google Suite and internet applications

Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree or higher, (or credit equivalent)
  • Bilingual in a Foreign Language, Spanish preferred
  • Experience working in a college setting
  • Experience using my.Maricopa.edu Student Center
  • Knowledge of Mesa Community College programs and services
  • Experience using the Maricopa Student Information System (SIS), PeopleSoft

Special Working Conditions (if applicable):  Hours:  25 hours/week, Monday-Friday.  May be required to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends depending on the needs of the Department.  May work up to 40 hours/week during the months of August and January. Position may require long hours of viewing a computer monitor and the ability to lift 25 pounds.

Job Summary: New Student Specialists provide guidance and support to new students through the application, placement testing, advisement, registration and orientation process. These positions will interact with and serve a diverse population of prospective and current students; provide information as the first point of contact on campus; process admission and registration related forms; assist students with online self-service options; assist with identifying student needs and entering into virtual waiting line system; provide advisement in individual and group settings, assist with coordination and facilitation of group advising/orientation sessions; monitor data and prepare reports, assist in recruitment and retention related events; provide general clerical assistance and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Some college and 1 year of relevant experience
  • Experience providing customer service to multiple customers or students at once
  • Experience delivering group presentations
  • Experience working in a higher education setting

Job Summary: 
Provide accurate, complete, & legible notes for MCC Red Mountain Disability Resources and Services of lectures/classes and/or other proceedings on behalf of students with disabilities; assist students using adaptive equipment in DRS Adaptive Lab; provides DRS front office coverage upon request; read/scribe exams as needed.

Essential Functions:

Note taker - Classroom Assistant - Disability Services - Southern and Dobson

Summary of the Job: To take high quality notes from lectures for students with disabilities.

Duties: Take notes on all information presented in class (instructor's lecture, students’ comments, films, slides, etc.)  Take legible, easy to follow, and accurate notes. Be responsible, reliable and thorough.  Assist students with disabilities in classrooms and labs as needed.

Job Summary: 
TRIO SSS Peer Coaches will play a critical role in student engagement and success for participants in the TRIO Student Support Services Program (SSS). Peer Coaches are upper division students at MCC who have successfully navigated their educational journey and are passionate about helping underclassmen at MCC develop the skills necessary to become successful students. Peer coaches will work with program participants to overcome the academic and social barriers to academic success. Peer Coaches will develop meaningful and healthy connections with participants and staff, and support participant academic success to reinforce the mission and goals of TRIO SSS.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Applicants must have a 2.75 CGPA or higher at MCC
  • Be in good academic standing overall at MCC
  • Have completed at least one semester within the MCCCD
  • Have experience working with first-generation, low-income students and/or students with disabilities or these experiences in their own background

Desired Qualifications (if applicable): 

  • Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA or higher at MCC

Job Summary: 
TRIO SSS Peer Academic Tutors will play a critical role in student engagement and success for participants in the TRIO Student Support Services Program (SSS). As an Academic Tutor, you will help build positive learning communities for TRIO SSS participants, create meaningful connections with participants and staff, and support participant academic success to reinforce the mission and goals of TRIO SSS.  TRIO SSS Academic Tutors will provide individual and group tutoring in specific subject areas, to SSS participants, to supplement services provided on campus.  We are currently in need of tutors for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.  Applicants will be agreeable to providing tutoring services within a flexible time schedule (nights, weekends) and in a variety of locations (on campus and off campus).

Essential Functions: 

  • Help participants identify academic problem areas
  • Provide academic assistance in specific subject areas
  • Help participants develop effective learning strategies
  • Facilitate independent learning by helping SSS participants discover their own answers and insights
  • Tracking participant utilization of tutoring and creating reports

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Applicants have a 3.0 GPA or higher in the subject area courses related to tutoring specialty 
  • Be in good academic standing overall at MCC
  • Have completed at least one semester within the MCCCD
  • Have experience working with first-generation, low-income students and/or students with disabilities or themselves come from these backgrounds

Desired Qualifications (if applicable): 

  • Applicants have a 3.5 GPA or higher in subject area courses related to tutoring specialty 
  • Have completed two semesters or more within the MCCCD; each semester in good academic standing
  • Have experience working with a federal TRIO program or are an alumni of a federal TRIO program
  • Verifiable tutoring experience
