Phi Theta Kappa is a prestigious honor society which seeks to recognize academic excellence in two-year colleges. Omicron Beta is the local chapter at MCC and was chartered in 1966. Phi Theta Kappa is founded on four hallmarks: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Fellowship.
The Phi Theta Kappa - Omicron Beta chapter at Mesa Community College is an active chapter that achieved 5-star status in 2026!
In order to be eligible to join the Omicron Beta chapter, a student must meet the following requirements:
- A cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale on all college-level coursework completed in the past five years.
- Accumulated a minimum of 12 credits at Mesa Community College. The completed 12 credits must be 100-level courses or higher.
- Currently enrolled in at least one credit at MCC and be considered in good standing.
Students who satisfy these eligibility criteria will receive an official invitation by email to join the Omicron Beta chapter. Invitations are generally distributed at the beginning of each semester. The invitation will include a unique access code required to complete registration with the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.
Students who do not yet meet the eligibility criteria are still encouraged to get involved as Provisional Members. In this role, students may participate in chapter activities while actively working toward fulfilling the requirements to become an official member of the Omicron Beta chapter.
