Flute Events 2026 - 2027
Mesa Community College has a vibrant flute community with a variety of events and experiences for flute players of all levels.
Flute Regional Etude Master Classes
The 2027 Master Class is scheduled for Saturday, January 9, 2027 at 10:00 am. This FREE event will include classes on each of the three AMEA Regional Audition Etudes for flute designed to improve performance on audition day plus a class on sight-reading. Students will have an opportunity to volunteer to play as part of the class. The instructors are some of the valley's top professionals. It is highly recommended that students sign up for a mock audition following the masterclasses. Approximately 70% of participants in the past have been selected for their Regional Band or Orchestra.
Desert Echoes Flute Project Flute Choir Concerts
The DEF flute choir program welcomes all adult and high school flutists who enjoy creating music together in the increasingly popular setting of a flute choir/flute orchestra. Concerts are presented throughout the year and tickets are available through PurplePass. To find concert dates and information click here. Many selections from the concerts, as well as the video projects, have been uploaded to the DEF Project YouTube channel. Concerts for the 2026 -2027 season: Friday, July 24th; Friday, October 9th; Saturday, December 12th; Friday, February 27th OR Friday March 5th; and Saturday May 1st. All concerts are at 7:30pm in the MCC Performing Arts Center - 1520 S. Longmore in Mesa, AZ. Check for concert and ticket information HERE
DEFproject was selected to perform the pre-Gala concert at the 2026 National Flute Association Convention in Portland, OR on Friday, August 7th at 7:00pm. The DEF Chamber Choir was invited to perform Friday morning, August 7th at 11:30pm.
Summer Flute Project June 15-19, 2026
A 5-day flute camp/flute intensive experience that brings renowned guest artists and top local artist faculty together with flutists to learn and play in a stimulating and supportive environment in the beautiful MCC Performing Arts Center, 1520 S Longmore in Mesa, AZ. The five-day program includes coached chamber ensemble and flute choir participation. Afternoon-only tickets are also available and do not include morning ensembles. The afternoon session feature a variety of topic classes, concerts, workshops, masterclasses, and reading sessions. The 2026 guest artists are Abby Coffey, Brian Gordon, Brian Luce, and Jarrett May.
