Job Summary:

Mesa Community College is hiring an English Student Learning Facilitator to work in the Fall 2020 semester. This position provides online tutoring for English courses in the Learning Enhancement Center.

Essential Functions:

90% Provides in-person and online tutoring to students in the Learning Enhancement Center; works with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff. 10% Provides student status and recommendations to the supervisor; assists with workshops, class presentations and other student success activities; other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in English or related field
  2. Strong communication skills and the ability to help students understand complex material
  3. Experience using Google apps, including Google docs and spreadsheets
  4. Patient and respectful of varying levels of student content knowledge

Desired Qualifications:

  1. Experience working with English course content and materials related to tutoring
  2. Knowledge of instructional methods used in the classroom at MCC
  3. Knowledge of effective study strategies
  4. Experience providing quality service in a fast-paced learning environment
  5. Experience using Canvas

Special Working Conditions:

Tutors may work in one of the LEC locations on the Southern and Dobson or Red Mountain campus or support students in the classroom as assigned. Fall 2020: Tutors will provide virtual tutoring remotely.
