Planetarium

The MCC Planetarium opened in August 2008 as part of the new Physical Science building at the Southern and Dobson campus. We offer public planetarium shows during our monthly Astronomy Nights. We welcome school groups and private groups to schedule shows as well.

Our 52-seat Planetarium is used for our college astronomy classes and we host community groups of all ages interested in astronomy.

Our Astronomy Nights are open to the public on the first Friday of the month during the Spring and Fall semesters. The Astronomy Nights include rotating planetarium shows for the public and telescope viewing.

Community groups (schools, scouts, adult groups, clubs, etc.) can request a visit to the MCC Planetarium through the blue "Request a Private Visit" button on the lower left of this page. The planetarium show and discussion topics of these private visits can be customized to the interests of the group.

Update for August 2026

Over the summer, our long-time planetarium director, James Enos, moved to another institution. We are in the middle of filling James' role and his rather large shoes! At this time, we are preparing our list of shows for the Fall 2026 Astronomy Nights. We do not have details available at this time, but we hope to hold our regular First Friday events during September, October, November, and December.

Please check this page again soon for updates. We will post them here as they become available.
