Dear Alumni and Friends,
As we begin this new year, I want to thank you for your support of our college. Your continued engagement and partnership are important in defining Mesa Community College's future.
I am pleased to share several key developments that are shaping our path forward and reinforcing our commitment to student success.
Investing in the Future of Career & Technical Education (CTE)
In 2026, we will break ground on a new Veterinary Technology and Sustainable Horticulture building. The 12,000-square-foot facility is designed to support student success, program growth and interdisciplinary collaboration.
With advanced labs, interdisciplinary classrooms and enhanced student support areas, the Veterinary Technology and Sustainable Horticulture building represents innovation, collaboration and our commitment to preparing students for high-demand careers. The building is anticipated to open in Summer 2027.
We are also planning a new, approximately 30,000-square-foot welding facility. The Welding Technology building will incorporate state-of-the-art technology and safety features, along with advanced training in pipe welding and welding fabrication to meet industry demands.
The Welding Technology building will further strengthen our role as a workforce partner and is expected to open in Spring 2028.
A Powerful Economic Engine for Our Region
Mesa Community College's impact extends far beyond our campuses. According to the most recent economic impact report, the college contributes approximately $1.7 billion in annual economic activity and supports more than 20,000 jobs.
Much of this impact comes from you, our alumni. Alumni earnings and productivity generate approximately $1.3 billion each year for the regional economy, while college operations, student spending and construction activity contribute an additional $400 million in value across local businesses and communities.
As we look ahead, we remain committed to investing in programs and partnerships that create opportunity, support local industries and ensure Mesa remains a hub for talent and innovation.
Philanthropy That Changes Lives
Through initiatives like the Power of 60 campaign, philanthropic support continues to expand opportunities for students. Since the campaign began in January 2025, $268,522 in cash and pledges has been raised to support students in need. Plus, new billboards at MCC's Southern & Dobson campus will provide approximately $400,000 annually to support the Mesa College Promise program, ensuring the City of Mesa's commitment to its residents that all eligible students can attend Mesa Community College for two years with Arizona resident tuition and registration fees fully funded.
This commitment reflects a shared belief that access to education changes lives and strengthens the entire community.
We welcome 2026 with a strong sense of optimism for the future. Your support helps ensure that MCC continues to serve as a pillar of opportunity for Mesa and the East Valley.
Thank you again for your time, your partnership and your dedication to our students and community.
Adelante!
Richard Daniel, Ph.D.
