History and core values of nursing; the role, scope, and ethical and legal responsibilities of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN); and the principles of critical thinking and the nursing process. Basic anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, microbiology, infection control, nutrition, pharmacology, mental health concepts, and developmental considerations for adult and geriatric patients. Nursing skills, safe medication administration, medication calculations, therapeutic communication, and the use of healthcare technology and documentation systems are included. Supervised laboratory and clinical learning experiences support the development of safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care within the LPN scope of practice.

Prerequisites: Admission into the Fast Track Practical Nursing program.
