ENG107 First-Year Composition for ESL 3 Credits

Equivalent of ENG101 for students of English as a Second Language (ESL). Emphasis on rhetoric and composition with a focus on expository writing and understanding writing as a process. Establishing effective college-level writing strategies through four or more writing projects comprising at least 3,000 words in total.
Prerequisites: Appropriate writing placement test score, or a grade of C or better in ENG091 or ESL097 or WAC101, or a grade of B or better in ALT100, or (a grade of C in ALT100 AND Corequisites: ENG101LL or ENG107LL OR WAC101 OR ENG100A+).

ENG107LL First-Year Composition Lab for ESL 1 Credits

Equivalent of ENG101LL for students of English as a Second Language (ESL). Supplemental instruction for composition courses. Focus on developing effective writing processes to address a range of rhetorical situations.
Prerequisites: WritePlacer score of 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4. Corequisites: ENG107.

Course Notes: It is highly encouraged that you attend the FREE MCC Reading/Writing Boot Camp that occurs prior to the beginning of the semester. Participants may be able to place into a higher-level course; participants will be better prepared for success.
