Southern Ave., Mesa, 85202). Tickets, ranging from $9 to $12, are available by calling the MCC Box Office at 480-461-7172, online at www.purplepass.com/MCC, or at the door.

Three Sisters was written by Anton Chekhov, who is credited for perfecting the genre of modern realism. The play will be directed by Matthew Wiener, a professional guest director that has a specialty in extracting the comedy from what are often considered by others to be solely serious Russian plays. The play centers around the Prozorov family, who chafes at the constraints of life in their small provincial town, once a bustling army garrison where their late father served as general. Attempts to shore up their crumbling social status lay bare the larger forces of unrest that will soon engulf them all.
