Experience The Arts at Mesa Community College

New website makes finding an on-campus art experience easy

MESA, Arizona — February 22, 2016 — MCC has launched a new website, The Arts at MCC (mesacc.edu/arts), to aid patrons in finding an experience best suiting their passion, interest and schedule.

The Arts at MCC website will make it easy to learn about and attend events ranging from live music, dance, instrumental and theatrical performances to fine art shows featuring student, faculty and visiting artists, sculpture, digital, and painting works.

The Arts at MCC website was created to help promote MCC’s state-of-the art venues which collectively represent more than a $20 million investment by our community. Support for arts education was overwhelmingly approved by East Valley voters as part of the Maricopa Community Colleges’ 2004 Bond Referendum.  The new and remodeled venues at MCC also provide important learning laboratories for students to complete their course requirements while providing our community opportunities to see award-winning performances and exhibits.

“The community has consistently supported and attended the award-winning arts events on our campuses. We want to provide them with a way to easily learn about our students’ talents in all art forms,” said Rodney Holmes, Dean of Arts, Humanities and Social Science at MCC. “Sports are a well-known outlet. Fine arts also provide students a way to express themselves and the community can benefit from their efforts.”

MCC has provided students and community members opportunities to celebrate the arts for many years. It observed the first MCC annual Fine Arts Week nearly 50 years ago, on April 25, 1966, when the MCC A Capella Choir and the Stagedoor players performed in the Mesa High School Auditorium. MCC now hosts events at its new Performing Arts Center, the remodeled MCC Theatre, and the MCC Art Gallery which opens Feb. 24.
