Dr. Tammy Robinson Named as New President of Mesa Community College

TEMPE, Ariz., -- April 25, 2022 -- The Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) and Mesa Community College (MCC) are pleased to announce Dr. Tammy Robinson as the new President of MCC. Dr. Robinson will replace Interim President Dr. Lori M. Berquam, who has served in the role since Feb. 1, 2020. This concludes a nationwide search that involved extensive community and stakeholder engagement.

“I am honored and humbled to be selected as the next president of Mesa Community College,” said Dr. Robinson. “I look forward to collaborating with the staff and faculty of MCC in advancing the institution and helping students achieve academic success. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work alongside so many committed individuals in continuing to deliver outstanding learning opportunities in Mesa.”

Dr. Robinson's professional experience spans 25 years as a community college administrator and faculty member. Since 2018, Dr. Robinson has served as the Vice President of Instruction at Cañada College in Redwood City, California. In addition to her current role, Dr. Robinson serves as the Vice President of the California Community College Chief Instructional Officers Executive Board. She also serves on several national boards including the Workforce Development Commission for the American Association of Community Colleges.

“With her impressive track record and experience in education, I have every confidence that Dr. Robinson will be a passionate advocate and leader at Mesa Community College," said MCCCD Interim Chancellor, Dr. Steven R. Gonzales. “Dr. Robinson thoroughly impressed us with her leadership experience, her passion for education and equity, and her all-around positive energy. I am excited to work closely with her as we continue our System’s commitment to transforming individuals and our community through learning.”

Dr. Robinson holds a Doctorate in Education with an emphasis in Community College Administration from the University of Southern California, a Master of Arts degree in English with an emphasis in Rhetoric and Composition from California State University, Dominguez Hills, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, and an Associate of Arts degree in Social Science from Cerritos College.

Dr. Robinson will assume her new role on July 1, 2022.
