Poetry night has returned to Mesa on the third Thursday of every month.
This year, the event has a new name: District 4, the Poetry Reading. It’s at 7 p.m. in Jarrod’s Coffee, Tea and Gallery, 154 W. Main St.
Also this year, in addition to a community open mic portion of the show, two East Valley poets are to be featured each month. October’s poets are Josh Rathkamp and Susanna Velarde Covarrubias. Rathkamp is director of the creative writing program at Mesa Community College. Covarrubias is a poet, linguist, musician and actor.
