Peace Amukamara helped Mesa Community College’s women’s basketball team achieve historic success through her determination, perseverance, discipline, and a passion for excellence.
In 2014, Peace helped lead MCC to its first NJCAA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship in program history. In the semifinal game, she recorded a triple-double with 23 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists. In the national championship game, Peace recorded 28 points and 11 rebounds, helping Mesa secure the championship.
That season was also a year of tremendous individual achievement. She was named NJCAA Division II Player of the Year, a First-Team NJCAA All-American and the NJCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship Tournament MVP. She was also recognized as First-Team All-Region and First-Team All-Conference, following her 2013 Second-Team All-Region and Third-Team All-Conference honors.
Her success at MCC opened the door to the next chapter of her journey. In 2014, she earned a full basketball scholarship to Arizona State University, where she continued competing at the NCAA Division I level. In 2015, she was a member of the ASU women’s basketball team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. In the 2015–16 academic year, Peace earned a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention recognition.
Peace graduated from ASU in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree and began building her professional life as a fashion stylist allowing her to express her creativity and work with talented individuals.
A highlight of her professional career came during Super Bowl LVII in 2023, when she assisted with styling looks for multiple celebrities. Working on high-profile projects in a fast-paced environment required the same qualities that helped her succeed as an athlete: preparation, discipline, teamwork, attention to detail, adaptability, and confidence.
Basketball taught her how to work toward a goal, overcome adversity, trust her teammates, and continue pushing forward when things became difficult. Those lessons stayed with her throughout her professional and personal life.
