EMT104 Emergency Medical Technology 10 Credits

Designed as the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) lecture to prepare students for scope of practice and standard of care with comprehensive assessment, diagnostic technology, patient advocacy, ethical and professional behaviors, critical thinking, decision-making, and patient management of medical and trauma emergencies and non-emergencies.
Prerequisites: Appropriate score on Reading placement test to demonstrate minimum tenth grade level reading, or completion of an Associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution.

Course Notes: Every student, no matter what level of education completed, must take the reading assessment test and attain a minimum score of 42 or better on the ASSET test or 83 or better on the COMPASS, or 249 or better on ACCUPLACER NexGen. If score is less than 249 on Accuplacer NexGen, student must meet with Program Director for an override. The tests are given at the MCC main campus at 1833 W. Southern Av., Mesa, Az., 480-461-7480. Testing is done Monday through Thursday from 8am to 7pm and Friday from 10am to 4pm. You will need to bring a copy of your results to turn in.
