Research Tips

Good research is essential to becoming a strong Model UN delegate. Remember to use official sources to learn your country/s policy. When doing general issue research, be careful about the quality of the information you find.

MCC librarian Kristina Santiago has compiled essential web links for United Nations research for students of POS180, United Nations Studies. This library guide is available to both collegiate and high school delegates here.

For information specific to the Security Council and its subsidiary bodies, please consult the independently-managed Security Council Report here. Note that SCR offers links to a variety of sites, including UN sites, Member State sites, regional organizations, and news agencies, on its "Resources" page, linked here.

Finally, note that there are many reliable news agencies that provide general and country-specific perspectives on relevant, current events. State news agencies, such as China's Xinhua News Agency or Russia's TASS, can be particularly helpful in developing a sense of a Member State's policy perspectives.
