Value Colleges ranks MCC Online in top 50

MESA, Arizona – May 24, 2016 -- Mesa Community College (MCC) ranked No. 12 in the Top 50 Best Value Online Community Colleges by Value Colleges.

According to Value Colleges over 1,700, two-year associate degree-granting community colleges were considered for the initial ranking. Schools were then filtered by public, nonprofit, over 10 online programs, over 2,000 students and under $10,000 annually for tuition costs (in-state residency).

The final ranking was calculated based on three metrics:

  1. Annual tuition  (reported from National Center for Education Statistics)
  2. Graduation rate (NCES)
  3. Online programs count (as indicated from college website)

Value Colleges stated, “These schools are recognized as excellent examples of online learning opportunity. We think affordability and reputation coupled with the expectation for future career success are most important. Just going to the nearest community college isn’t necessarily your only choice; community colleges offer different courses and programs, and most online programs are state-wide.”

“At MCC we take the quality and accessibility of our online programs very seriously. We strive for excellence and continuous improvement with cutting edge technology tools and engaged professors,” said Laura Ballard, MCC eLearning director. “Recent additions to our program include virtual proctoring, expanded online tutoring hours, online office hours/advising technologies, success and retention personnel, and an additional 19 states authorized to deliver our programs.”
