MCC’s Learning Enhancement Center Earns Recertification

Girl writing on glass wallThe College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) has recertified Mesa Community Colleges Learning Enhancement Center for five years. MESA, Ariz. – The College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) has recertified Mesa Community College’s Learning Enhancement Center for five years. The CRLA is an international organization of student-oriented professionals active in the fields of reading, learning assistance, developmental education, and tutorial services at the college level. Its members promote the implementation of innovative strategies to enhance student learning.

MCC’s tutoring program is one of more than 1,000 college and university tutorial programs in the United States and Canada that have received CRLA tutor training certification. Certification provides positive reinforcement for tutors’ successful work and sets a standard of skills and training for tutors.

MCC is authorized to issue certificates to tutors meeting its CRLA-approved requirements for three levels of certification: Level I Certified Tutor, Level II Advanced Certified Tutor and Level III Master Certified Tutor. Each level requires an additional 10 hours of training and 25 hours of experience.

The CRLA's International Training Program Certification is endorsed by the Association for the Tutoring Professional, the National Tutoring Association, the Commission XVI of the American College Personnel Association, the National Association for Developmental Education, and the American Council of Developmental Education Associations.
