Veloz and Conrad teamed to teach JoJo Fletcher and one of her suitors to Lindy Hop, a popular 1930-40s swing dance. The couple will display their new skills during the June 6 episode.

Both gaters (addicts of swing), Veloz and Conrad, are longtime dance partners and jumped at the opportunity to slap some waders on (put on a pair of shoes) and mop (dance) in Hollywood.

Conrad said it makes sense for JoJo to learn to dance with her suitor. Dancing allows people learn so much about themselves and their partner.

“Dances used to be a place where people would meet…and fall in love,” said Conrad.

Executive director and founder of the Arizona Lindy Hop Society, Conrad shares his passion for swing dance far beyond the dance floor at MCC. He teaches and learns about dance and cultures in many countries. Conrad is especially proud of a dance program for homeless adults in Maricopa County saying, “Some people hadn’t experienced touch or a safe embrace for years – it profoundly changes lives.”

In the fall Conrad will be teaching Latin Ballroom and Ballroom dance at MCC.
