D'Anna Column (MCC Hunger Awareness Week)

A few weeks ago D'Anna threw down a challenge to the community to start their own food drives to help United Food Bank this Thanksgiving, and so far the response has been amazing. One of the institutions that took him up on the challenge was Mesa Community College, which invited him out to the Red Mountain Campus this week to take part in their annual hunger awareness campaign. 11 Teams Participate in a Service Project at Feed My Starving Children

Eleven Mesa Community College athletics teams took time out of their busy schedules to participate in a service project at Feed My Starving Children, a nonprofit organization based in Mesa that sends volunteer-packed, nutritious meals to 70 countries worldwide. The students packed a total of 275 food boxes in two hours, breaking the previous record of 252 in the same time frame.
