Monica Torres is the founder of the global company NXT Generation Mortuary Support, which, in 2019, was one of the first deathcare firms to offer online education for embalmers. After graduating from MCC in 2010 with an Associate’s Degree in Mortuary Science, she has become one of the funeral industry’s most sought-after speakers, is one of fewer than 10 expert-level professionals in the USA teaching others reconstructive surgery and craniofacial post mortem care, and the only Latina and only one of a handful of women worldwide recognized as an international expert in her field.

In 2016, she received the Fountain National Academy of Professional Embalming Skills (FNA) Distinguished Service Medallion. Monica continues to serve her community by making funeral arrangements for families in need while focusing on educating the public and professionals. She has more than 70,000 followers on social media. She was an expert on embalming on the TV series “The UnXplained” with William Shatner, and was featured on the cover of American Funeral Director and in Popular Mechanics for her innovative techniques for repairing decomposed human remains for open casket viewing. Monica recently led a retreat in Tempe for female morticians suffering from PTSD and compassion fatigue due to their service during the pandemic. Monica also hosts a scholarship for marginalized community members to become morticians.
