Introductory course into the practice of modern maintenance operations. Includes: safely and correctly using maintenance tools (e.g., hand tools, power tools), measuring instrumentations (e.g., tape, caliper, micrometer) and reading various engineering documents (e.g., blueprints, flowcharts, parts diagrams). Use and convert units in System International (SI) and imperial. AIT128 A-620 Cable and Wire Harness Assembly Certification 3 Credits

This course will prepare the successful student to receive the "Certified IPC Specialist" (CIS) certification from The Institute for Interconnecting and Packaging Electronic Circuits (IPC)/Wire Harness Manufacturer's Association (WHMA) in "Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies" (IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification). Topics covered and skills to be demonstrated are: soldered terminations, crimp terminations, insulation displacement terminations (IDC), splices, connectorization, marking/labeling, coaxial cable assemblies, electrical shielding, wire marking and labeling, and testing methodologies. Also includes typical Pipe and Instrument Diagram (P&IDs) symbols and tags along with the development of a basic P&ID drawing.

Course Notes: BPC110 uses Microsoft Office 2016, 2019 or Office 365 and includes extensive hands-on experience with word processing, excel spreadsheets, presentation and database management software. Overview of computer technology, concepts, terminology, and the role of computers in business and society. Discussion of social and ethical issues related to computers. Use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software. Includes uses of application software and the Internet for efficient and effective problem solving. Exploration of relevant emerging technologies. Prerequisites: None.

Course Notes: CIS105 is a lecture course with computers demonstrations and open lab assignments. CIS105 uses Windows-based computers to cover word processing, presentation, spreadsheet and database management software. Includes overview of computer technology, concepts, terminology and the role of computers in business and society. Discussion of social and ethical issues related to computers and exploration of relevant emerging technologies. Knowledge or basic features of Windows and ability to type 30 WPM recommended. Focus on configuring switches and routers for use in small and medium size networks. Including Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), VLAN trunking, Inter-VLAN routing, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), EtherChannel, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), First Hop Redundancy, Local area Network (LAN) and Switch security, and Static routing. In this beginning class you will learn how to weave Navajo rugs, stripes as well as designs, and build a small loom to use for warping and weaving. Class will include a lecture on the history and regional styles and there will be demonstrations of each step of warping and weaving. Numerous rugs will be brought in for Show and Tell. Students will actually weave a small rug during class.
