This course will prepare the successful student to receive the "Certified IPC Specialist" (CIS) certification from The Institute for Interconnecting and Packaging Electronic Circuits (IPC)/Wire Harness Manufacturer's Association (WHMA) in "Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies" (IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification). Topics covered and skills to be demonstrated are: soldered terminations, crimp terminations, insulation displacement terminations (IDC), splices, connectorization, marking/labeling, coaxial cable assemblies, electrical shielding, wire marking and labeling, and testing methodologies. Course Notes: CIS105 is a lecture course with computers demonstrations and open lab assignments. CIS105 uses Windows-based computers to cover word processing, presentation, spreadsheet and database management software.
