EDU230 Cultural Diversity In Education 3 Credits

Examination of the relationship of cultural values to the formation of self-concept and learning styles. Examination of the role of prejudice, stereotyping and cultural incompatibilities in education. Emphasis on teacher preparation (preservice and/or inservice) to offer an equal educational opportunity to students of all cultural groups. Prerequisites: None.

Course Notes: While not mandatory, during this course students will have the opportunity to conduct a minimum of 20 hours of field experience in a P-12 classroom environment, often requiring an Identity Verified Prints (IVP) fingerprint clearance card. To begin the IVP card process, go to https://www.aps.gemalto.com/az/index.htm Before filling out the fingerprint card application, be sure to check the locations list to verify locations and hours of operation.
