EDU222 Introduction to the Exceptional Learner 3 Credits

Overview of the exceptional learner with emphasis on factors relating to current practices, identification, characteristics, and educational adaptations. Issues related to mild disabilities, severe disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, intellectual disabilities, and students who are gifted.

Prerequisites: None.

Course Notes: During this course students will conduct a minimum of 15 hours of field experience in a P-12 classroom environment, often requiring an IVP fingerprint clearance card. To begin the IVP card process, go to https://www.aps.gemalto.com/az/index.htm Before filling out the fingerprint card application, be sure to check the locations list to verify locations and hours of operation.

Additional Course Notes: EDU222 requires an approved field experience.
