Dental Hygiene students seek those with oral health needs

Mesa, Arizona - September 6, 2016 - Mesa Community College’s Dental Hygiene program is currently looking for patients who have not received dental hygiene care in the past three years or longer. Requirements of the students’ clinical education call for challenging patients and the Class of 2017 is looking for patients who meet these criteria to assist in their education this semester.

If you are suffering from periodontal (gum) disease and never had it treated, have been told you need “deep scale” cleaning, or have other dental hygiene issues such as puffy and bleeding gums, the students are looking for you!

The Dental Hygiene students will conduct complimentary oral health screenings on Saturday September 10, 2016. Appointments will be available at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, 5855 E. Still Circle in Mesa. Please call 480-248-8195 to schedule your visit.

“Students in clinical health care fields such as Dental Hygiene can only progress in their education with participation of community members and through community partnerships,” stated Debbie Holexa, Dental Hygiene Director at MCC.

Students will screen patients to determine the oral health conditions of each individual. The screenings will be offered as a complimentary service.  Those participating in the screenings must agree to have a full set of x-rays taken.  If participants wish to receive a copy of their x-rays, a $20 fee will apply.  Arrangements will be made to pick up x-rays the following week during hygiene clinic hours.  This is a screening only, participants will not be guaranteed an appointment or receive a comprehensive exam.  Although the screening is complimentary, patients selected for the program will be charged for the customized oral health care services provided.

The Mesa Community College Dental Hygiene Clinic offers a full range of Dental Hygiene services during convenient evening hours at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health Clinic. Students provide quality care using the latest technology in comfortable surroundings and at fees less than most private dental practices. All students treat patients under the supervision of licensed dental hygienists and dentists.
