Then watch the 6-foot, 200-pounder from Mesa, Ariz., smash a baseball over the fence — which he did Monday afternoon in a 6-5 La Crosse Loggers win over Madison in the first game of a scheduled day-night doubleheader — with head-turning swing.

This kid belongs. Period.

Mesa Community College knew it. Michigan State, where Zimmerman is heading this fall, knows it. And so does Chris Goodell, the Loggers’ general manager.
