End of watch: Sad to hear that Sgt. Paul Springall died last week. I knew him from my days covering the cop beat in Mesa and later as the head of security at Mesa Community College. He wasn't flashy or a macho tough guy, though he did serve as a Marine rifleman in Vietnam. No, he was just a good cop who did his best to keep his community safe.
Rest in peace, Sergeant.
