Student Art Show

Astronomy Night: Tour the Universe with Pink Floyd

  • Description: Weave plastic grocery bags into mats for unsheltered community members. A great way for students to complete volunteer and/or service-learning hour

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) - Mesa United Way

Volunteer opportunities: Tax Preparer (training provided), Interpreter (be fluent in Spanish and English or American Sign Language and English), Site Greeter.

Receive training to become an IRS-qualified tax preparer and then volunteer during tax season to help low-income families with their tax preparation.

Interns will become certified tax preparers and will gain valuable on-the-ground experience in the field. Volunteers are requested to volunteer at least 25 hours during the tax season (3 hr/week).

Flight: A Mariposa Story - Dance Concert

  • Description: The Fall Dance Concert will be entitled "Flight: A Mariposa Story."  Flight is a cohesive evening-length work with live music, spoken poetry, and, of course, dance!  Through dance, Flight will tell the story of the migration of the monarch butterflies that return to Arizona each year.  This year marks the 60th anniversary of Mesa Community College, and our Southern and Dobson campus is home to a number of monarch waystations. These beautiful sites support the butterflies in their journey, and they are the reason that our campus is alight with orange and black wings each fall. Flight is divided into two acts with three scenes per act and is a collaborative effort among five choreographers, several musicians, and a team of designers who are bringing this concept to life.
