About this event

Rooted in Relations: Authenticity and the Power of Indigenous Sovereignty is a group exhibition that celebrates the interconnection, strength, and sovereignty that flow from Indigenous relationships—with land, language, culture, and community. 

The works of these artists embody contemporary and traditional expressions of Indigenous creativity that reflects both tradition and innovation—rooted in relationships and grounded in sovereignty.

Kee Bahee, Ernesto Burbank, Richard Lomahinma Dawavendewa, Sikuyva Dawavendewa, Megita Denton, Angela Dickinson, Jaque Fragua, Liliana Gonzales, Damien Jim, Gracy Kiyaani, Sabrina Mathues Manygoats, Jose Trejo Maya, Ray Rivera, Selina Scott, Sinnagwin (Roger McKinney), Hoka Skenandore, Daniel R. Smith, Larrell Tessay, Monica Trujillo, Carl A. and Harriette F. Tsosie,  Alicia Velasquez, Eliana Velasquez, Cheyenne Weston, and Eunique Yazzie

The exhibition will open with a reception on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 from 5-7 pm and will remain on display through April 2, 2026.

Items not allowed

Outside food and beverages are not permitted in the gallery.

Directions and parking

The MCC Art Gallery can be found behind the AC building, near the MCC Theatre. Complimentary parking for events is conveniently provided in the southeast lots of campus.
