The new Performing Arts Center is a multi-purpose facility designed to accommodate the wide range of performances of MCC’s talented music, dance, and theatre programs. Re-imagined to fit the needs of MCC, the large theatre holds 462 seats, performance classrooms, music practice rooms, faculty offices, and the scene shop.
The North wall of the Performing Arts Center is a visual representation of the opening glissando of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue”.
At the MCC Performing Arts Center we have many stages where our talented dance, music, and musical theatre performers put on exciting, quality performances throughout the year. A vibrant display of local talent, technological magic, and astounding acoustics, performances at the Performing Arts Center are a spectacle of delight.
The Performing Arts Center began as a movie theater, the old Harkins Fiesta 5, which was opened in 1979. MCC purchased the building, as well as the adjacent Fuddruckers, in 2009, and construction began on the Performing Arts Center as part of an effort to expand the MCC performing arts programs and revitalize the Mesa area. Elements of the old building, the Fiesta 5 sign and red seats from the original theater, were incorporated into the new building as an artistic reminder of the origins of the building.
