The Research Review Process
- MCC Faculty, Staff, and External proposals will be submitted via e-Protocol.
- Applications may be accessed at: http://www.maricopa.edu/irb/apply.html
- Contact the IRB Coordinator and request a login ID to access the e-Protocol application system. The IRB Coordinator can be reached at (480) 731–8701, or at irb_office@domail.maricopa.ed
- Once submitted, MCC Faculty, Staff, and External applications will be reviewed by the IRB.
- Student Proposals will be turned in to the Department of Psychological Sciences Office (BP Building, 43-A).
- Student applications may be accessed at: http://www.maricopa.edu/irb/apply.html
- Once submitted, student proposals will be reviewed by the Student CRRC.
- The review board convenes and reviews the proposal. The research may be deemed exempt, expedited or be referred to the MCCCD IRB for full review.

- If the proposal is deemed exempt or approved, the primary investigator will be notified and the research may begin.
- If the project is approved subject to restrictions, then the IRB will notify you of the necessary modifications via e-Protocol. If you are a student, the chair of the CRRC will inform you in writing regarding your project’s status.
- The IRB and CRRC may conduct continuing review of research at intervals appropriate to the degree of risk but not less than once per year. The primary investigator will be notified of the continuing review status by receipt of a continuing review form which must be completed and returned to the CRRC Chair.
