Tony Occhiuzzi

Some love stories feel like they’re straight from the movies, and this one began right here at MCC. In 1968, Tony Occhiuzzi wasn’t planning to attend the upcoming homecoming dance. When his friends learned of this, they stepped in and arranged a blind date for him, in the MCC Cafeteria. That provident setup introduced Tony to Diana, the woman who would soon change his life forever.

Tony shared that meeting and dating Diana inspired him to take his academics more seriously and to focus on shaping his career path. Their bond grew stronger with time, leading to an engagement, marriage and a lifelong partnership.

First teaching in junior high, then high school, Tony later returned to teach at MCC as an adjunct professor for 30 years.  He and his wife Diana served on the MCC Alumni Advisory Board as well.

What started as a blind date in the cafeteria, is a marriage that has lasted more than five decades. The Occhiuzzi's journey is an example of the enduring spirit of MCC.
