Dual Enrollment

What is Dual Enrollment?
High School Students Earning College Credit while still in High School!
Dual enrollment is an opportunity for eligible* high school students to earn lower division college credit during regular school hours at their high school. Dual enrollment courses allow students to earn both high school and college credit for the same class. The credit earned may be used to complete an Associate’s degree as well as a Bachelor’s degree at a transfer university (depending on the receiving institution’s requirements)
*To qualify for special admission to Mesa Community College as a dual enrollment high school student, you must maintain enrollment at the high school and complete the enrollment packet.
What Dual Enrollment Can Do For You:
The opportunities for high school students are countless! Dual enrollment provides quality learning opportunities and helps high school students prepare for college. Students experience college level courses – the curriculum and text have been approved, and the instructors certified, by Maricopa Community College District. These challenging courses enhance high level thinking skills and provide incentive to advance beyond the high school’s level. Best of all, transition from high school to college begins early and occurs conveniently in a familiar, comfortable environment.
Cost & Fees:
Tuition is more affordable at a community college than at public or private colleges and universities. Some high schools have scholarships available; talk to your high school counselor to see if you qualify. Parents may qualify for tax credit through the Hope Scholarship Credit or the Lifetime Learning Credit as provided by the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997***.
Only $71 per credit hour! **
**In-county tuition subject to changes by the State Community College Board, $15 registration fee required. Some courses, such as labs, require additional fees. Books are purchased separately.
***This is provided for informational purposes only. Eligibility varies. Contact your tax advisor to see if you qualify.
