The mission of the Mesa Community College's Disability Resources & Services Office (DRS) is to provide the resources, services and academic adjustments necessary to allow each student with qualifying documentation to achieve success in their educational goals.

Important Reminder: If you're a returning student, remember to request your approved accommodations through DRS Connect each semester or contact DRS for renewal at the start of each semester or new course.

Students are responsible for informing the institution of their need for accommodations each semester. Accommodations are specific to individual courses and semesters and do not transfer between semesters or courses.

About Disability Resources

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, colleges must provide reasonable accommodations for students with documented disabilities. Services and accommodations are available at no cost to qualifying Mesa Community College students.

Reasonable accommodations include providing auxiliary aids or modifying courses or programs to ensure access to education. Examples are:

  • Distraction-reduced testing environment & extended testing time
  • Note-taking assistance
  • Accessible furniture
  • ASL interpreters, CART Services, and Closed-Captioning
  • Assistive & adaptive technology, like Kurzweil

To qualify for accommodations you must meet MCCCD eligibility requirements and provide disability documentation. See MCCCD Administrative Regulations 2.8.1 and this FAQ from the U.S. Department of Education regarding your rights and responsibilities.
