Residency for Tuition Purposes:

All students are classified for tuition purposes under one of the following residency classifications:


Residency for tuition purposes is determined in accordance with state law (A.R.S.15-1801 et seq.) and regulations of the Maricopa Community Colleges Governing Board. The process to prove your residency is detailed here. For more information on residency requirements and the criteria used, please visit the MCCCD website.

New guidelines from the State of Arizona explicitly state our responsibilities in establishing residency and eligibility requirements for all students seeking admissions, financial aid, and other college services. Download and print those guidelines here. We have also provided the list of acceptable documentation for students seeking to establish residency status.

Additional Fees: All students pay a $15.00 registration fee per semester.
Course fees may be required for particular classes (e.g. Computer Labs, etc.) See Schedule of Classes for additional fee requirements.

It is recommended that the student regularly check their student center at My.Maricopa or call the campus cashier office where the student is enrolled for more information.

Out-of-State Tuition:

  • Effective July 1, 2011, students with an out of state residency status will be assessed different tuition rates dependent upon the course mode of instruction.
    • Out of State students who reside in State taking in person courses: $317 per semester credit hour
    • Out of State students taking internet courses: $215 per semester credit hour

  • Military tuition rates are determined by the home of record for the military member.

WUE Tuition: $114 per credit hour (Out-of-state students participating in the Western Undergraduate Exchange Program.)
Concurrent Enrollment in Arizona Public Institutions of Higher Education (A.R.S. 15-1807)

"It is unlawful for any non-resident student to register concurrently in two or more public institutions of higher education in this state including any university, college or community college for a combined student credit hour enrollment of more than six (6) credit hours without payment of non-resident tuition at one of such institutions"

**Reciprocal agreements guarantee in-county tuition rates for residents of all Arizona counties except Apache & Greenlee Counties.

  • Audit Rate Maricopa County Resident: $101.00 per credit hour
  • Credit by Exam & Credit by Evaluation (Regular Rate): $74.00 per credit hour
  • Out of State Resident in Study Abroad Programs: $196.00 per credit hour
