What is ASMCC ?:

Organization, Set-up of Student Government:

The organizational setup of ASMCC is established in the ASMCC Constitution. I looks a lot like the formation of other college student governments, which usually resembles a federal republic similar to that of the United States government.

As young people become more involved in civics and public policy,it is important that our future leaders experience the mechanisms of such a system.

ASMCC has a legislative branch, executive branch, and judicial branch that maintains a system of checks and balances so that all students interested are properly considered in the democratic process.

EXECUTIVE

The ASMCC Executive board consists of four officers (President, Vice President, Vice President of Communications, and Vice President of fiscal Affairs) elected by the student body in the spring. These officers are responsible for the management and operations of ASMCC. This board administers the ASMCC Executive Board Account. The Executive Board also directs its staff and Cabinet of Commissioners to coordinate, plan, and support ASMCC events such as homecoming, community service projects, and other activities.

LEGISLATIVE

The ASMCC Student Senate includes the ASMCC Executive Board. Commissioners, and Student Senators, many of which represent MCC's active clubs. The Student Senate forms ASMCC policy, enacts bylaws, passes legislation, debates issues, and maintains student representation in the College Commuinty forums.

JUDICAL

The Student Court consists of five students appointed as court justices by the ASMCC President, subject to the approval of the Student Senate. These students review, deliberate, and rule on constitutional issues brought before the Student Court.
