SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES

A New Leaf

We are currently seeking volunteers for the Mesa CAN's client services department whose primary function is to assist limited income Mesa residents with rent and utility payments.  Without fail, the demand for services is far greater than the financial resources available to support it.

Mesa CAN as a community based organization serves as a starting point for social services for many Mesa residents.  To that end, especially in the summer months we are extraordinarily busy beginning as soon as our doors open at 6 AM.

The front desk staff/volunteer is responsible for answering phones and questions about services, signing people in for appointments, determining eligibility of paperwork, directing traffic to appropriate services and maintaining order in the lobby.

We need assistance in working the front desk Monday-Friday during the week.  Busy hours are 6 am -2.  We are scheduling in 8 shifts and during these times.   Students interested can go to our website at www.turnanewleaf.org  and submit an application on line.  Questions can be direct to myself at the below phone number which is also listed on the flier.  Student applicants will be contacted for a group orientation and individual interviews.  We are hoping to fill these positions and have volunteers trained before May. This is a great opportunity for students to learn about social services in their community.

Boys & Girls Club

Boys & Girls Club of Apache Junction is looking for students/volunteers to help with Camp Clubzona this summer.

Volunteers/Students should be able to instruct in one or more of the following:

Also, they are in need of volunteers to travel with them on Fridays for Field Trips.  Volunteers will need to have a background check through the Boys & Girls club.  For details, please contact Tommie Hayes-Fonder at 480.982.6381 or tommieh@clubzona.org.
