Maricopa Foundation Scholarships
The Maricopa Foundation is committed to empowering students and fostering learning through financial support. Students may apply to general scholarships and/or scholarships for future teachers. The application is usually open from March 1 to mid-April for fall scholarships and from September 1 to mid-October for spring scholarships.
Maricopa Foundation Scholarships for Future Teachers
Students may submit a general scholarship application to the Maricopa Foundation or apply for the scholarships listed below that are specific to students with an academic goal in teacher preparation.
The qualifications for this scholarship are as follows: majoring in education (early childhood, elementary, or secondary), students accepted to an Education baccalaureate degree program from an accredited college or university within the United States. Preference will be given to students working towards English as a Second Language (ESL) or bilingual education endorsement, minimum 2.0 GPA.

Preference is given to students who are not receiving Federal Pell Grant and/or TEACH (Teacher Education and Compensation Helps) funding.

The qualifications for this scholarship are as follows: enrolled at a Maricopa Community College, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75, be enrolled full-time, and be pursuing a major in Education with the goal of becoming a teacher. Preference will be given to students who plan to teach in the Mesa Public School system after graduation.
The estimated amount of this award is $1,000, divided equally between the fall and spring semesters ($500 per semester). There will be 3 awards given each semester. Recipients may be eligible to renew the award for a second year if they continue to meet the criteria.
NACCTEP Scholarship Criteria
This scholarship application window is usually early spring and due mid-March. Applicant requirements:
- Currently attend a NACCTEP member college (MCC is a member).
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible U.S. permanent resident; in good academic standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale);
- Be enrolled in and maintain a minimum of six credit hours at a NACCTEP member college during the (current academic year) SPRING semester;
- Be enrolled in and maintain a minimum of six credit hours at a NACCTEP member college or transfer to an education program at a four-year institution during the (following academic year) FALL semester; and
- Have earned a minimum of 18 college credit hours by the end of the (following academic year) FALL semester (for alternative certification/post-baccalaureate program students, credits may be from their bachelor’s degree program course of study).

Early Childhood Education Scholarships
MCC offers a variety of certificates and degrees that prepares individuals for employment as early childhood professionals in a variety of educational settings: birth through age eight or grade three. The scholarships below are available to students with an early childhood academic goal.
First Things First Scholarship
Are you an early childhood professional working in Arizona with or on behalf of children birth through five or volunteering 15 hours per month in an approved setting? Learn more about this program.
Professional Career Pathway Project Scholarship
The PCPP is a scholarship is available to students that are pursuing MCC certificates in early childhood education. Students may use either the First Things First or the PCPP award in the same term.
Arizona Teacher's Academy Scholarship
This program is available to teacher candidates enrolled into the Early Childhood Dual Language Bachelor’s Degree program. Students must commit to teaching in an AZ public school for each award year.
AZ Teacher's Academy for Transfer Students
Students that transfer into an Arizona Educator Preparation Program may apply for the Arizona Teacher's Academy scholarship. Maricopa colleges offers two eligible programs:
- Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education - Dual Language, MCC
- Elementary Education and Special Education, GCC, PVCC, and RIO
Additional programs are offered at Arizona public universities: Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, and University of Arizona.
